PCM 3.0 With Navigation: New Map Data Record (52/09)
Model year: as of 2009
Vehicle Type:
Cayenne/Cayenne S/Cayenne GTS/Cayenne Turbo
Equipment:
Porsche Communication Management 3.0 with navigation (PCM 3.0)
I-no. 7T1 (Navigation)
I-no. 7QT, 7QV, 7QX, 7QZ, 7RA, 7RB, 7RC, 7RD, 7RV (DVD navigation)
Concerns:
- New map data record for navigation due to data changes in vehicle production.
- Procedure for using a map data record.
Information:
- Replacement of a PCM device due to a complaint or spare parts requirement.
- Update to new map data version.
The information below relates to "PCM 3.0 with navigation" and includes instructions about what to do in the situations mentioned above when
using a navigation DVD (referred to below as "Navi DVD"). Essentially, the Navi DVDs that are available from the parts department are only
approved for use by authorized Porsche dealers (workshop DVD). The map data record can only be installed on PCM in conjunction with the PIWIS
Tester.

We recommend that you initially order and stock one DVD of each data record version (for the North American market) for these situations.
New data record:
The change to a new, updated navigation map data record, which is implemented in vehicle production, generally occurs once a year, but we cannot
always ensure that the change date (Release) coincides with the start of the model year. As a result, it can happen that one map data record covers
two model years (e.g. all of MY 09 and the start of MY A (10)) and in exceptional cases, one map data record can even cover three model years (e.g.
end of MY X - all of MY Y - start of MY Z).
See also --> "Release" section.
If a customer has requested that you install a new map data record: --> see "Update" section.
Navigation allocation:
The relevant navigation data record for the vehicle (= region) is installed on the PCM system in vehicle production. The allocation of the data record
to the vehicle and model year is entered and stored in the vehicle master data and is protected by the enabling code
Navigation enabling code:
..can be displayed using the PIWIS Tester and PIWIS information system. The data record is only activated for the navigation system by entering
a valid enabling code.
PIWIS Tester: --> 'PCM 3.0' --> 'Coding' --> 'Enabling code'.
PIWIS information system: Only with the required access rights: --> 'Job Management' --> Enter 'Vehicle Ident. No.' --> 'Vehicle code information'
--> Display selected codes 'PCM enabling code for navigation maps .... (as at vehicle delivery)'.
Navigation software:
The navigation data record stored in PCM has an 11-digit software number, which can be displayed using the PIWIS Tester and PIWIS information
system. The software number gives an indication of how up-to-date the data record is. It is not a part number that can be used for ordering spare
parts. PIWIS Tester: --> 'PCM 3.0' --> 'Navigation' --> 'Identification'.
PIWIS information system: Only with the required access rights: --> 'Job Management' --> Enter 'Vehicle Ident. No.' --> 'Vehicle information' -->
'Electrics/Electronics information' section --> 'PCM software version, maps (as at vehicle delivery)'.
DVD Part No.:
The 11-digit software number can be used to determine the allocation to the corresponding DVD part number and I-no. (= region) using --> PET
("Designation" column).
DVD hardware:
The following data, along with other information, is printed on the top side of the Navi DVD (example):
Release:
Release version 08.2009 (08 = month, 2009 = year) is currently valid at the time this information was created. The first release is 06.2008.
The change date in vehicle production can be more or less worked out from the release number. This date is generally 1 to 3 months later than the
month specified in the release number.
PCM replacement:
When replacing a PCM device in the event of a complaint or when a spare part is required, the map data record that is valid for the vehicle must be
installed again using the corresponding Navi DVD. The enabling code you already have is used for enabling the data record, see --> 911019
Removing and installing PCM 3.0 display and operator control unit.
If you try to install a more recent Navi DVD (update) or the Navi DVD for another region, this is only possible using a new enabling code. See -->
'Update' section below.
Update:

The previous map data record can be updated to a newer version or the data record for another region can be installed at the request of the customer.
Both measures can only be carried out using a new enabling code and at the customer's expense and are available from "Tequipment", see -->
911000 PCM3.0 - Navigation update
