be polluted via the reference air duct).

NOTE:

Oxygen sensors in front of and behind catalytic converter.

- Do not interchange the oxygen sensor in front of the catalytic converter with the sensor behind the catalytic converter as this will result in

implausible fault entries.

- The plugs themselves are coded and cannot be interchanged.

Diagnostic conditions

- Vehicle voltage > 9 V

- Engine running > 10 seconds

- Oxygen sensor heater active

Possible fault causes

- Loose contact or corrosion on connectors or lines

- Short circuit to B+/ground/between lines or open circuit in the lines

- Oxygen sensor faulty

P0071

P0071

Diagnosis information - DME V8 DFI

Ambient temperature (via CAN from instrument cluster)

NOTE:

This fault is stored if the ambient temperature sent by the instrument cluster deviates from the calculated ambient temperature (from temperature

model) by more than 25 锟斤拷C (77 锟斤拷F).

The temperature model depends mainly on the measured intake air temperature.

Diagnostic conditions

- No other DME fault codes set

- Driving > 80 km/h (50 mph) for > 15 minutes,

- then directly after this 1 minute of driving under the following conditions:

- Coolant temperature 47 锟斤拷C ... 108 锟斤拷C (117 锟斤拷F ... 226 锟斤拷F)

- Engine speed 1,200 ... 4,000 rpm

- Speed 30 ... 180 km/h (19 ... 112 mph)

Possible fault causes

- Ambient temperature incorrect (sensor trimming incorrect/faulty)

- Intake air temperature incorrect (sensor trimming incorrect/faulty)

- Turbo only:

- Intake air temperature incorrect due to charge-air cooler blocked, faulty, modified...

P0072

P0072

Diagnosis information - DME V8 DFI

Ambient temperature via CAN (from instrument cluster)

NOTE: This fault is stored if the instrument cluster signals a fault in the temperature sensor.

Diagnostic conditions

- Ignition on > 5 seconds

Possible fault causes

- Fault in the area of outside temperature sensor - instrument cluster (see fault memory for instrument cluster)

P0073

P0073

Diagnosis information - DME V8 DFI

Ambient temperature via CAN (from instrument cluster)

NOTE: This fault is stored if the instrument cluster signals a fault in the temperature sensor.

Diagnostic conditions

- Ignition on > 5 seconds
