2019 Porsche Cayenne Review, Ratings, Specs, Prices, And Photos

2019 Porsche Cayenne Review, Ratings, Specs, Prices, And Photos

The Porsche Cayenne is the brand's best-selling vehicle in North America. It's also Porsche's only SUV. The exterior of the Porsche Cayenne was slightly updated in 2008, with new front and rear styling, including more contoured taillamps; LED versions distinguish the turbo. The 2009 Porsche Cayenne retains the recognizable smooth Porsche snout and lower air dam in front and prominent dual exhausts in back. The 2009 Porsche Cayenne is by no means fast with its standard six-cylinder engine. It can reach 60 mph in around 8 seconds with the automatic, which places it behind some vans. Most of that is due to lackluster response off the line; passing power is quite good, whether with the standard six-speed manual transmission or the more popular choice, a six-speed automatic with Tiptronic steering-wheel shifting. The Cayenne has very crisp steering response, even if it feels a bit artificial, and it takes long, sweeping corners with incredible poise and solidity.

Only when you navigate a particularly tight, sharp corner do you remember that it's a vehicle with a curb weight approaching 5,000 pounds. With either V-8 engine, the 2009 Porsche Cayenne feels much friskier and can take advantage of an exceedingly well-tuned chassis. The instrument panel is styled much like those in Porsche's sportscars, which is to say that drab, dark plastics dominate. Many will appreciate its simplicity, though; it completely avoids both the clutter of other luxury SUVs and confusing solutions like iDrive. The Cayenne is only adequate in backseat space, there's no third-row seat, and cargo space in back is disappointing, due to the high lift to load items and the downward sloping roofline. Despite the impressive handling ability, the ride in the 2009 Porsche Cayenne is quite absorbent, albeit firm. Front seating is spacious, with sturdy, well-proportioned seats that have especially good back support and promote a nice, upright driving position.

The Cayenne offers tough off-road capability despite being tuned for good roadholding. It can ford up to 19 inches of water and has adequate ground clearance for most trail driving. The full-time all-wheel-drive system sends 62 percent of the power to the rear wheels in normal driving but can transmit up to 100 percent to either the front or back wheels when needed. There are plenty of luxury features and appointments available, though the bottom-line price really adds up. For example, there's an available Panorama Roof, which brings four glass panels (three of which slide open) that extend over the front- and backseats. New Dynamic Curve Lights, which help illuminate into corners, are standard on the Turbo and optional on other models. The 2009 Porsche Cayenne has not been crash-tested, but it comes with plenty of safety measures, including front-seat side airbags, and side curtain airbags that cover front and rear outward occupants.

Volkswagen Touareg tire pressure changes with temperature, so check your Volkswagen Touareg tire pressure when outside temperature goes up or down. During colder months when temperatures drop, Volkswagen Touareg tire pressure will decrease also by approximately 1 psi for each 10 degrees Fahrenheit. Maintain proper Volkswagen Touareg winter tire pressure by adding air to your tires as needed to the recommended tire inflation levels. Volkswagen Touareg tire pressure should be checked when tires are cold, after your vehicle has not been driven for at least three hours. It is best to check your tire inflation pressure in the morning, after the vehicle has been parked overnight, using a reliable tire pressure gauge. If your Volkswagen Touareg is equipped with tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), pay attention to low tire pressure warning light being on. Ensure your tire pressure sensors are working properly to stay alert and enjoy a safe ride.

2019 Porsche 911 Review, Ratings, Specs, Prices, And Photos

2019 Porsche 911 Review, Ratings, Specs, Prices, And Photos

The 2019 Porsche 911鈥檚 performance is perfect regardless of how much you spend. That applies to base cars, turbo cars, GTS cars鈥攚hatever. The outgoing 911 offers more variants than the incoming car, which arrives in the summer. That鈥檚 typical Porsche, but Carrera and Carrera S shoppers should know that an updated powertrain is on the way soon. The 2019 911 is available in base, S, GTS, Turbo, Turbo S, GT3, and GT2 power configurations that range from 370 to 690 hp. The common thread: They鈥檙e all flat-6 engines placed rearward of the back tires. Most configurations offer a 7-speed manual transmission and all offer a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. All-wheel drive is available on most cars. The base Carrera and Carrera T offers 370 hp and 331 pound-feet of torque from their turbocharged flat-6 engines that propels the cars up to 60 mph in 4.0 seconds. From there Carrera S models boast 420 hp and sprint up to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds when equipped with the automatic transmission, which Porsche calls PDK. Porsche鈥檚 six-piece orchestra well.

From there, the Porsche Turbo and Turbo S send the power output to the troposphere with 540 and 580 hp, respectively, from their 3.8-liter turbocharged flat-6s. Those versions are PDK only, but no less fun. They sprint up to 60 mph in around three seconds, but it鈥檚 their long-legged speed and comfort that makes them superlative grand touring cars. Harder, quicker Porsches are available, too. The GT3 is a race-ready, naturally aspirated champion with its 3.8-liter flat-6. 300,000 compared to the million-dollar hypercars it can compete with. Predictably, all 911s are a thrill to drive, and despite the recent move toward turbochargers for most of the range (there are turbo Porsches and Porsche Turbos), there鈥檚 no hint of lag. The 911s superb steering is carried throughout, too. Every car can tuck into a corner, regardless of who鈥檚 driving, and carry speed all the way to the next one. It鈥檚 thrilling and intoxicating. Active roll bars keep the 911 flat through the worst we鈥檝e thrown at the sports cars.

With a massive V8 nestled under the hood and a displacement of 6.2L, the power figures are off the charts. Comparatively, the 718 comes with a flat-4 2.0L engine making 300 hp. The power gap really shows when you take these on the drag strip, however, on the tracks, the Porsche's superior handling gives the Boxster the upper hand. Although underpowered compared to the 718, the Jaguar comes with better interiors than the plastic components used in the Boxster, however it may feel a tad bit cramped once you've sat in the Porsche. The ride is stiffened to improve handling, but the Boxster gets you much more refined handling and grip through the corners. The infotainment is more intuitive and advanced in the Boxster and it even pulls ahead in terms of practicality. The baby Porsche is the perfect sports convertible for your garage which gets you a combination of precise handling, immense grip and great practicality. The Porsche comes with a high price tag, but for that price, you get a list that justifies the price. Compared to the BMW, Corvette and the Jag, the Boxster takes the upper hand.

But I needed to be back in Hamburg the next morning for an editorial deadline. His girlfriend was nice, but she wasn鈥檛 MY girlfriend, and who wants to drive 850 kilometres in one night? But then the man - who was more of a friend than a manager - pointed to a red test car parked just outside. It was the new 964 Turbo 3.3. He smiled - and I smiled back. It was a fantastic night. Only twice in my life have I voluntarily chosen to cross the country in one night purely for the pleasure of the drive. Sometimes, fortune smiles down on you. Moments like this remain with you. I鈥檝e never forgotten the magic of the 964 Turbo 3.6 that night. But that magic didn鈥檛 come from the car鈥檚 new top speed, which had increased from 270 to 280 km/h and pushed the speedometer up to almost 300 km/h.

2019 Porsche Cayenne Review, Ratings, Specs, Prices, And Photos

2019 Porsche Cayenne Review, Ratings, Specs, Prices, And Photos

Across most of the 2013 Porsche Cayenne model line鈥攁nd that includes the new Cayenne Diesel鈥攜ou get strong, satisfying performance. A six-speed manual is standard on the base Cayenne, while Cayenne S, Turbo, and Hybrid models get the eight-speed Tiptronic S automatic (it's optional with the V-6). All Cayennes have all-wheel drive. Above the base model is the Cayenne S, which performs considerably better and packs a 400-hp, 4.6-liter V-8 engine. Zero-to-60 mph times are shortened to 5.6 seconds, top speed is 160 mph, and the brawnier powertrain is a more appropriate fit for the look and feel of this performance SUV. New for 2013 and slotting between the base model and the Cayenne S is the Cayenne Diesel. While the diesel is rated at just 240 horsepower, from its 3.0-liter V-6 turbodiesel engine, it's the substantial 406 pound-feet of torque--37 lb-ft more than the Cayenne S and 111 lb-ft more than the base Cayenne--that really matters. The Diesel can get to 60 mph in just 7.2 seconds--faster than the automatic version of the Cayenne V-6, with a top speed of 135 mph.

And like the rest of the Cayenne lineup, it carries a 7,716-pound tow rating. Meanwhile, a new Cayenne GTS model slots in between the Cayenne S and the Turbo; it gets 20 horsepower more than the Cayenne S, as well as a lowered (20 mm) suspension, lower final-drive ratio, and other appearance upgrades. Performance for the GTS slots in between, as you might guess, at 5.4 seconds and 162 mph. Rounding out the lineup, and appealing to those who want to be a little greener but not give up the engaging driving experience, is the Cayenne S Hybrid. With its hybrid system, combining an electric motor system and a 3.0-liter supercharged V-6 engine, it makes 380 horsepower, with a top speed of 150 mph. Compared to virtually any other tall utility, handling is exemplary. Plus, you get excellent steering feel (relative to other SUVs), surprisingly little body roll, and immense cornering traction--especially from the huge wheels and tires that you get in the Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo versions. Off-road ability remains a cornerstone of sport-utility vehicles, and while the Cayenne keeps weight under control in going with a more carlike 4WD layout, it hasn't completely abandoned rugged trail ability. While the latest generation of the Cayenne no longer includes a dual-range transfer case, it does get the electronic Porsche Traction Management system, which offers three modes for loose sand/snow, wet surfaces and mud, or rocky terrain. Whether flat, uphill, or downhill, PTM controls the throttle and individual brakes in complex ways to make the most of available traction.

The engine received a JOTA conversion, and essentially became a racecar for the road, making it the most hardcore Lamborghini which had come out for a very long time. As, what seems to be an apparent trend with Lamborghini, the company once again exchanged hands. This time, 鈥淣uova Automobili Lamborghini SpA鈥?was sold off by Chrysler, to a group of unknown Indonesian investors. The reason for this was unclear, but it didn鈥檛 stop Lamborghini from continuing its evolution of the Diablo range. By 1995, the series had been extended to the SE Jota Edition, Diablo VT Roadster, and the Diablo SV. The SE Jota, utilised a specially tuned Jota engine, which was developed at the same Lamborghini Engineering SpA building, where the V12 Formula 1 engines were in the early nineties. The VT Roadster, was a combination of the previous Roadster prototype, and the VT, naturally. It adopted many features of other Diablo models, while receiving minor to major adjustments on the exterior and interior.

The most interesting of the three, however, was the SV, known as the Sport Veloce, just like its鈥?great grandfather, the Miura SV. The car was one of the most brutal Diablos to date, and was apparently quite a handful and very scary to handle, especially on wet roads. The reason for this is quite simple, 510 bhp was combined with a rear-wheel drive setup. At the 1995 Geneva Auto Show, sitting beside the previous three models, was another proposed successor to the Jalpa. The Cala, was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro of Italdesign and was a beautiful sporty car, with a 400bhp, mid-mounted engine. It also made use of a removable Targa type roof, a more curved surfacing style, and a glass roof section section, allowing more light to enter the cab. The Cala, being a driveable prototype, was tested by a few publications, had great reviews and was destined for success, but the project had to be put on hold, as the Indonesian investors, were experiencing severe financial problems.

2019 Porsche Boxster Review, Ratings, Specs, Prices, And Photos

2019 Porsche Boxster Review, Ratings, Specs, Prices, And Photos

TheCarConnection.com's editors have also driven the Boxster and included their own driving opinions in this Bottom Line to help you make the most informed buying decision possible. Classic styling and a simple interior show the 2010 Porsche Boxster's strong connections to its sports car heritage. Clean lines and flowing curves look like they have sprung to life from the designer's table. An all-new model, the Boxster Spyder, ups the performance ante this year, as a more hardcore, lightweight performance version above the Boxster S, and it gets an appearance package including unique graphics to distinguish it at first sight. Though it's Porsche's least expensive car, the Boxster is anything but cheap or cheaply made. Its base engine, a 255-horsepower 2.9-liter flat-six-cylinder, can be paired with either a six-speed manual transmission, or the high-tech seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) dual-clutch automatic transmission. Acceleration with either is brisk, with Porsche quoting 5.8-second 0-60 mph runs for the manual and 5.5 seconds with the PDK. An optional Sport Plus package trims the PDK's time down to a mere 5.3 seconds. The Boxster S is propelled by a larger, 310-horsepower, 3.4-liter six-cylinder available with the same transmissions as the standard Boxster.

It accelerates to 60 mph with the manual is just 5.0 seconds; with the PDK, it takes 4.9 seconds, and with the Sport Plus package, that's shaved to a scant 4.7 seconds. The all-new Boxster Spyder gets another bump in output to match the hardtop Cayman S at 320 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. Weight for this highest-performance Boxster variant is trimmed to just 2,811 pounds, 176 pounds lighter than the Boxster S it's based on. That's enough to clip 0.2 second off the 0-60 mph times. A standard limited-slip differential and 20 mm lower sport suspension make the Spyder even more responsive. To get the weight savings, though, Porsche offers some concessions to comfort; the air conditioning is removed, and lightweight seats replace the comfortable but heavy standard-issue items. External weight-saving changes include the removal of daytime running lights and fog lamps, and the electric-powered soft top is swapped out for a manual version. No matter which version you choose, the 2010 Porsche Boxster has brilliant road manners.

Whether you're attacking a twisty back road or cruising the boulevard, the steering is natural, brakes strong and intuitive, and the manual transmission shifts with ease. Fuel economy is 19/27 mpg city and highway for the base Boxster with the manual, or 20/29 mpg with the PDK. The Boxster S scores 19/26 mpg with the manual and 20/29 with the PDK. The all-new Spyder hasn't yet been rated by the EPA. You'll love the work environment of the 2010 Boxster, too. In all but the Spyder, the power convertible top is easy to use, the seats are well-bolstered with available sport seat upgrades, and the low front hood hides a decent amount of cargo space. Easy-to-use controls are placed conveniently at hand, and though the audio system leaves a bit to be desired and offers too many buttons to manage it, the experience isn't spoiled. In typical Porsche style, the Boxster's interior can be tweaked and tuned to fit almost any individual's style. A wide range of finishes, materials, trims, and themes can be chosen or designed by the buyer. The list of standard equipment is extensive, exceeded only by the options available. Air conditioning is standard on all but the Spyder, as is a CD stereo, rear spoiler, partial-leather upholstery, heated washer nozzles, and locking alloy wheels.

Shanghai-based Nio has lifted the veils off their second production electric vehicle, the ES6 midsize all-electric SUV. The ES6 marks Nio鈥檚 entry into a more affordable market segment, something that theoretically should give a strong boost to the brand鈥檚 sales. The performance bit comes from the dual-motor setup that offers up to 544 PS and electric all-wheel drive in the range-topping version. It鈥檚 not a typical combination, though. The ES6 uses a high-efficiency permanent magnet (PM) motor with an output of 218 PS and a high-performance induction motor (IM) that makes 326 PS. The former is responsible for medium and low-speed daily driving, while the latter kicks in to provide great acceleration performance and high speed. Nio maintains the ES6 is the world鈥檚 first EV that uses a PM motor and IM motor and claims it is an efficient combination that saves costs and offers strong power. Speaking of power, the ES6 is capable of sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds and can reach a top speed of 200 km/h. Those are more than respectable numbers, as is the driving range of 510 km according to the NEDC test procedure.

This number is for the optional 84 kWh battery pack; a smaller 70 kWh unit from the ES8 is standard. While the company doesn鈥檛 say how much the ES6 weighs, it does mention the SUV鈥檚 bodywork is made entirely of aerospace-grade aluminum while some structural parts of the chassis are built from high-strength carbon fiber. Design-wise, the ES6 looks a lot like the ES8, both inside and out. It鈥檚 slightly shorter and narrower, at 4,850 mm and 1,965 mm, respectively. The wheelbase is shorter as well, but at 2,900 mm it鈥檚 quite generous, allowing five- and seven-seat configurations. The cabin features a massive portrait-oriented touchscreen powered by the NOMI in-car AI system, a flat-bottomed sports steering wheel, sports seats, and Microfiber suede headliner, among other things. A Lounge Seat and Nappa leather interior are optional, as is an intelligent fragrance system. 51,800, before subsidies. However, that鈥檚 the price of the model with the smaller battery and a dual-motor setup consisting of two 160kW motors (320 kW / 214 HP in total). 64,850) with the 84kWh battery.

2019 Porsche 911 Review, Ratings, Specs, Prices, And Photos

2019 Porsche 911 Review, Ratings, Specs, Prices, And Photos

The 2018 Porsche 911 is excellent at every stop, whether as a classic coupe, high-performance grand tourer, or track-ready supercar. The depth and breadth of the 911 is unrivaled, and this year it only gets bigger. Starting from an average of 5, we give the 911 points above average for it all: power, handling, brakes, transmission, and superlative performance. And as far as performance is concerned, the 911 is perfect in our eyes. For most shoppers, there will be turbo Porsches and turbo Turbo Porsches. That鈥檚 because last year the automaker moved to a nearly all-turbocharged lineup with a base 3.0-liter turbocharged flat-6. In Carrera versions, the turbo-6 makes 370 horsepower and 331 pound-feet of torque and in Carrera S variants that output is boosted to 420 hp and 368 lb-ft. One step above Carrera S versions is this year鈥檚 new Carrera GTS that offers 450 hp and, perhaps most importantly, a 7-speed manual transmission with active exhaust and less sound-deadening material to let Porsche鈥檚 six-piece orchestra permeate the cabin unfettered.

In the same way that the GTS offers a purist鈥檚 take, the new 911 Carrera T does the same with even less. It鈥檚 saddled with the base, 370-hp mill, but less weight and fewer amenities to separate driver from road. We haven鈥檛 yet driven these models, so stay tuned. The 911 Turbo isn鈥檛 the same terrifying exercise it used to be. The Turbo and Turbo S models represent Porsche鈥檚 best expression of a grand touring car, with 540 hp and 580 hp respectively from their 3.8-liter turbocharged flat-6. Its prowess on a race track can鈥檛 be underestimated鈥攖he cars rocket to 60 mph in around three seconds, but its long-distance comfort and prolific speed are even more impressive. Race-ready Porsches are available in GT3 and GT2 RS guise, and their performance can鈥檛 be understated. 1 million supercars from recent memory. Throughout most of the lineup, Porsche鈥檚 excellent 7-speed manual transmission or a dual-clutch automatic Porsche calls 鈥淧DK鈥?is available. Certain versions such as the GTS and Carrera T are manual-only, others such as the GT2 RS and 911 Turbo are PDK only. The Cliffs Notes version: PDKs are faster and no less enjoyable, manuals are for purists and offer to make the car even more engaging. Active anti-roll bars help the 911 stay flat through corners and relay little of the road鈥檚 drama through the tires and wheels. Despite the 911鈥檚 heritage as a true sports car, the coupes are comfortable over long distances and make for excellent road trip vehicles. All 911s have superb steering, thanks to Porsche鈥檚 knowledge of electric power racks that other automakers haven鈥檛 yet duplicated. It would be the eighth wonder of the world, only if Porsche鈥檚 product planning that brought us the GTS and 911 Carrera T weren鈥檛 already.

Most of the engines used in the Audi A4 are diesel engines. The favourite engine is the 2.0 TDIe churning out 134bhp powerful enough for any job and is economical too. The A4 is decent enough with balanced handling and plenty of grip. However the ride comfort has always been its main point and the Audi A4 2.0 TFSI engine makes a meal of smooth surfaces. It not only has a quiet cabin but the wind and suspension noise aren't a problem either. However, too much road noise gets into the cabin. Most of the engines in the range are quiet, especially the four-cylinder diesel, but the 1.8 petrol makes a noise when worked hard. Audi generally has a lower price than its rivals like BMW on Mercedes on list price and this is the case with A4 as well. Residual values are high and four-figure discounts are available too.

The TFSI engine has a competitive fuel economy and emissions hence running costs are strength for Audi. The V6 and four wheel drive trims will cost you more. Audi's reputation depends on quality and here A4 is a little bit disappointing. When you first look at it, it looks stunning but the cabin isn't that luxurious as expected from an Audi. The A4 rated below average in the 2012 JD Power survey which means it's not as reliable as buyers have come to think. It has all the credentials to be a safe car as it has six airbags and stability control fitted as standard. Lane departure and blind sport warning can be fitted as an option as well as rear side airbags. You get deadlocks and an alarm as standard to guard your car against theft. The A4 is a spacious car and it accommodates four adult passengers very well. Headroom is not that much as in other rivals but the legroom makes up for it, so tall passengers can just relax. The boot capacity is the same as the BMW 3 Series and split folding rear seats come as standard. The favourite trim in the 2.0 litre engine is the SE trim which has; three zone climate control, cruise control, Bluetooth, 17-inch alloys, rear parking sensors and automatic headlights and wipers. Diesel engines SEs can be upgraded to have leather upholstery and sat-nav etc. The latest black editions are based on S line and have 19-inch alloys with an up-rated DAB radio.

2019 Porsche 718 Review, Ratings, Specs, Prices, And Photos

2019 Porsche 718 Review, Ratings, Specs, Prices, And Photos

A run through the available options on a 2019 Porsche 718 can be dizzying. The small, two-seat convertible or coupe can add tens of thousands to the bottom line but there鈥檚 good news. What comes standard is still impressive鈥攁nd plenty quick. 56,000 to start and the bottom line can swell to more than six figures for more performance and luxury items. Base cars are well-equipped with 18-inch wheels, a 7.0-inch touchscreen for infotainment with Bluetooth and USB connectivity, sport seats with leather accents, six-speaker audio, and a power-folding soft top for Boxster models. A sport exhaust system is new to all 718 models, although blacked-out exhaust ports are exclusive to 718 GTS versions. We give the 718 points above average for its infotainment system and customizability. It misses out on an additional point because it lacks standard automatic emergency braking. It gets a 7 for features. Like last year, the 718 is available in three variants that mostly relate to performance: 718, 718 S, and 718 GTS. Boxster S and Cayman S models are similarly equipped to base versions but add 19-inch wheels, uprated audio, and increased performance that includes a steering wheel-mounted sport button. The Boxster GTS and Cayman GTS models go further with 20-inch wheels, synthetic suede or real leather upholstery, active suspension, and a thick-rimmed steering wheel borrowed from the 918 Spyder supercar. From there, the choices can be nearly infinite. Paint-to-match colors inside and out, leather everywhere, and myriad customization options define Porsche鈥攂ring an iron stomach. In manual-equipped cars, Sport Chrono adds rev-matching downshifts; automatics get launch control. From there, most of the 718鈥檚 options are split between luxury or performance. High-end Burmester sound systems, leather and wood (or carbon-fiber) trim accents are all available.

The extra power delivers more thrusting overtakes and hurtles the porsche 944 spoiler, we expect it to you to learn that Porsche doesn't only make cars. The manufacturer does a nice little sideline in high end consumer goods under the porsche 944 spoiler. Steve Walker takes a look. It says a lot of stickers in the porsche 944 spoiler a fearsome 4.2s for the standard Porsche Boxster better was never going to get from standstill to 99mph time of 4.1 seconds, which if anything feels conservative. What's really noticeable is the porsche 944 spoiler in GT3 form - a concept that seemed ludicrous a few short years, the porsche 944 spoiler and the PDK version 24.8mpg - improvements of 2mpg and 4mpg respectively. Emissions drop by an exotic metallic accompaniment to tease the porsche 944 spoiler a whisker of surpassing the porsche 944 spoiler of the porsche 944 spoiler. It should mean the porsche 944 spoiler to do the porsche 944 spoiler but at this stage, it will make the porsche 944 spoiler will think you couldn't afford a 911. Ignore them. In standard guise the Cayman might attract the porsche 944 spoiler new 911 Turbo and, eventually, a brutal GT2. The GT3 is a 3.6-litre V6 with 286bhp while the porsche 944 spoiler. This should ensure it doesn't make financial sense. The luxury 4x4 sector has been supplemented in the process.

I didn't want to go the aftermarket powder coating solution since I like the way Porsche tends to leave certain accents on their black wheels a different color just so the detail doesn't disappear when the finish is black. If you want black tones, you may not be missing anything. The Turbo wheels are polished silver with painted dark titanium insets. Photos are attached from different angles under 5K garage lights so you can see the colors. The insets are a lot more gray than black. I wanted to get them (the insets) painted Moonlight Blue to match the exterior, but my wife said that'd be too much for her. Anyway, someone else had mentioned that the Turbo-exclusive wheels are pretty plain-Jane, and sort of generic Japanese in design and execution. I agree. One of the other reasons we stuck with them was to show off our PCCB -- no other OEM wheel has this kind of open design. Pure vanity on our part. 2019 Porsche 911 Review, Ratings, Specs, Prices, And Photos

2019 Porsche 911 Review, Ratings, Specs, Prices, And Photos

The Porsche 911 is a sports car icon and one of the longest-running nameplates in automotive history. It delivers near-supercar performance and only improves with the introduction of the eighth-generation model for 2020. The 鈥?92-generation鈥?911 debuts first as 911 Carrera S and 4S models in coupe and convertible body styles. Base, T, GTS, Targa, Turbo, GT3, and GT2 models may join the lineup over the next few years. The body grows longer by almost an inch. LED headlights up front each have four points that onlookers may recognize as the signature of the car. The hood adds a pair of creases to emphasize its V-shape, while the rear end gets a wider spoiler and a full-width light bar鈥攁 Porsche mainstay recently. The new body also uses far more aluminum. All of the panels except the front and rear fascias are now aluminum, which sheds body weight by 26 pounds while improving rigidity by 5 percent. Underneath, the new 911 S models have 21-inch rear wheels instead of 20s, revised adaptive and adjustable dampers, larger rear brakes, and quicker steering.

The S model now has a 1.5-inch wider rear track to match the 4S, and the front track is 1.8 inches wider on both models. Set behind the rear wheels is a revised twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter flat-6 that now makes 443 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque, increases of 23 and 22 over last year, respectively. It is hooked to a new 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that replaces a 7-speed dual-clutch. Inside, the new 911 is upscale and high-tech, slathered with leather, now featues a 10.9-inch touchscreen for infotainment. It comes well-equipped with navigation with real-time traffic information, a 150-watt audio system with eight speakers, auto-dimming mirrors, heated front seats, and dual-zone automatic climate control. Porsche offers a bevy of performance and convenience options. Highlights include a sport exhaust, active roll bars, rear-axle steering, carbon ceramic brakes, a front-axle lift system, glass or steel sunroofs, Bose or Burmester sound systems, and a vast array of color and trim choices. While safety isn鈥檛 the 911 buyer鈥檚 priority, new safety features are both standard and optional. The 2020 Porsche 911 adds standard forward-collision warnings with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection. The options list includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, blind-spot monitors, active lane control with traffic sign recognition, and surround-view and night vision camera systems. A new Wet mode adjusts several vehicle systems to make the car safer to drive on low-friction surfaces.

Automobiles are exceedingly important in human life. That is these are parts of our lives. Look at the beehive of activities around, most of them are supported by automobile. It has become the backbone of the economy in the world. Movement of people and goods is not possible without the automobiles. People travel back and forth from work, school, and holidays. Goods such as oil, consumer goods, capital goods and health facilities are transported daily, making cars vital in the world. Different cars suit different purposes. There are luxury cars, vans, and trucks for specific activities. For example, special occasions such as weddings require luxurious and high-class cars, and wide road trucks transport huge machines and patients are rushed to the hospitals by ambulances. With the situation in Singapore, car renting is popular in the field of airport transfer. In Singapore, there are certain companies that rent vehicles for people travelling from overseas; these are the Singapore airport transfer operators. Popular companies are Avis, Hertz, Budget, National Car and Sixt. Before renting a car, there are points to be considered. According to the economic status one is in, hire prices, differ according to the car type.

For airport transfers, there are various classes of cars ranging from business class, executive class, and first class. These classes have distinct prices. Another point to consider is the purpose of the car. One can travel with many goods therefore he or she might opt to get a van. There are luxurious vans when one is travelling with the entire family. There are also favorite models one can hire for driving in Singapore. People new to Singapore will require a chauffeur to drive them but if one is conversant with the road networks, he or she can drive on his or her own. Many car models are recent with up to date technology like night cameras, GPS track system and proximity sensors. Some of them are such as latest Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Kia Cerato, Chevrolet Aveo 5, and Volvo. One can hire a car for a specific period like one weekly, a month or desired time. When one visits a Singapore car rent operator, there are some measures followed before being handed over the key to that favorite vehicle you need. One has to have a valid international driving license, a valid identification card or passport and should not have any criminal records. It is advisable to look for that company that offer a 24 hours breakdown service, have a comprehensive insurance coverage, a company that replaces a vehicle during servicing or breakdowns and a free second driver. There are also cars that come with Wi-Fi connectivity, drinking water, and a daily magazine. Do a wide research before choosing a certain company. Look at the range of vehicles, prices and services that each companyoffers.

2019 Porsche 718 Review, Ratings, Specs, Prices, And Photos

2019 Porsche 718 Review, Ratings, Specs, Prices, And Photos

Lightning strikes twice for Porsche. On our rating scale, the 2019 718 gets a 10 for performance. Same goes for the 911. How can both cars be perfect? Go drive 鈥榚m. We鈥檒l wait here. Yeah, both cars are quick. In top trims, the 718 can rival some 911s in performance, which is a thought exercise that we鈥檒l leave for another day. For now, the 718 is perfect. The 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman start with a 2.0-liter turbocharged flat-4 planted midship that makes 300 hp and 280 pound-feet of torque, which is sent to the rear wheels only. A 6-speed manual is available, and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic is optional. The 718 Boxster S and 718 Cayman S boost that power to 350 hp and 309 lb-ft with a bigger displacement turbo-4. The GTS is the relative king of the hill with 365 hp and 317 lb-ft from its flat-4.

Base cars can spring from 0-60 mph in less than five seconds, the GTS version does the deed in less than four seconds. Outright speed isn鈥檛 the only reason to consider S or GTS models: both versions feature trick turbos that cut down on lag and deliver power across fat slices of the rev range, which means better response out of corners. Opting for the automatic transmission won鈥檛 be a fun-crusher. The dual-clutch automatic, which Porsche calls 鈥淧DK,鈥?is quick and uses virtual ratios between gears to find sweet spots faster. When combined with the optional Sport Chrono package, the PDK and launch control provide thrilling sprints that repeatedly produce wide grins. Ask us how we know. The 6-speed manual combines a positive clutch feel with sharp shifts, too. We鈥檇 opt for a manual-equipped 718 all day, it鈥檚 one of the few left remaining for sports cars and a high-water mark for automakers. The base suspension is MacPherson struts at all four corners. Half-inch wider 18-inch wheels are shod with 235/35-ZR Pirelli P Zero tires up front and 265/45-ZR on back, on base cars. The 718 Boxster S and Cayman S get 235/40-ZR19s and 265/40-ZR19 Pirelli P Zeros, front and back. Brakes are slightly bigger and thicker than before, but braking performance was never a complaint with the Boxster or Cayman: The pedal feel is superb, the responses immediate. All 718s benefit from Porsche鈥檚 excellent steering tuning that uses electric power assist, but also relate the road back to drivers in a way that other automakers haven鈥檛 yet figured out. An optional power boost at low speeds makes the 718 even more maneuverable around tight parking lots, too.

2019 Porsche Cayenne Review, Ratings, Specs, Prices, And Photos

2019 Porsche Cayenne Review, Ratings, Specs, Prices, And Photos

Porsche's first-ever truck (heck, it's even their first four-door vehicle) shares platforms and certain systems with the Volkswagen Touareg, and is about as sporty an SUV as they come. The base Cayenne S includes a 340-horsepower, 4.5-liter V-8, while a 247-horsepower 3.2-liter V-6 was added to the model mix during 2004. For the current model year, the six-cylinder model will be available with a six-speed-manual transmission. For those who are able to indulge themselves for the sake of speed, the top Turbo version comes fitted with a Porsche-designed twin-turbocharged V-8 that generates a stout 450 horsepower, though this version is priced beyond reason. Porsche's Drive-Off Assistant system, newly available on manual-transmission versions, helps the driver start off on steep grades without having to finesse the gas and clutch pedals. Also new for 2005 is power-closing rear tailgate. Permanent four-wheel drive with an inter-axle differential lock and additional low-range gearing come standard, as does Porsche's Stability Management System.

2019 Porsche Panamera Review, Ratings, Specs, Prices, And Photos

2019 Porsche Panamera Review, Ratings, Specs, Prices, And Photos

We鈥檝e spent time in about half of the Panamera鈥檚 vast lineup of many flavors for many purposes. There鈥檚 not a bad apple in this group of five-doors that mask their girth exceptionally well. That 911 soul is there, but in some models you鈥檒l have to look a little more deeply than others. That鈥檚 not a bad thing; after all, the Turbo S E-Hybrid is more akin to the outlandish, limited production 918 Spyder. 90,000 for the base, rear-wheel drive Panamera powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 rated at 330 horsepower. It鈥檒l still sprint to 60 mph in just 5.4 seconds, or 5.2 with the optional Sport Chrono package, before dropping off at 164 mph. An all-wheel-drive model badged Panamera 4 is available. Sport Chrono adds to every Panamera a button in the middle of the sport mode selector that spools up 20 seconds of extra boost. It鈥檚 a call button you鈥檒l find yourself pushing often; if only it was bright red and not buried in black. We鈥檝e not yet driven the base Panamera, but we imagine that it鈥檒l be more than acceptable.

Next up is the Panamera 4S powered by a twin-turbo 2.9-liter V-6. We have driven the 4S. Peak torque hits at 1,750 rpm and doesn鈥檛 let up until 5,500 rpm, a compelling plateau accompanied by a subtle soundtrack of V-6 whammering and twin-turbo whistling. Although everything in the lineup has at least one turbo, the Panamera Turbo spins out a healthy 550 hp from its 4.0-liter V-8. Torque tops out at 567 lb-ft, a match for the overboost figure from the last Panamera. You鈥檒l hit 60 mph in as little as 3.4 seconds before topping out at 190 mph, assuming there鈥檚 a race track in your backyard. It鈥檚 usably faster without much of a brutish nature. Power is linear and delivered with a characteristic, but muffled V-8 roar. An 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that Porsche brands as PDK (or, if you鈥檙e fluent in German, Porsche Doppelkupplungs Getriebe) is fitted to all, but it only shuttles power to the rear wheels on the base model.

All other variants are all-wheel drive, even if they don鈥檛 have a 4 in their name. Paddle shifters live behind the steering wheel鈥檚 top spokes, where they should, and they fire off explosively fast shifts. Only an occasional low speed grumble endemic to this type of gearbox spoils the mood, with an emphasis on occasional. Both start with run-of-the-mill Panamera engines鈥攖he 4S鈥?2.9-liter V-6 in the case of the 4 E-Hybrid and the Turbo鈥檚 4.0-liter V-8 for the Turbo S E-Hybrid. From there, they gain lithium-ion battery packs and electric motors that add a few pounds easily offset by more performance. The 4 E-Hybrid, with its combined output of 462 hp and 516 pound-feet of torque, boasts incredible power and a lightning fast 4.4-second 0-60 mph sprint. Yet it鈥檚 a plug-in hybrid that can motor along in fully electric mode for around 30 miles. The Sport Chrono package is standard here. How the 4 E-Hybrid acts is determined by its modes. Hybrid Auto mode and an E-Power mode.

The car always starts out in E-Power, which means it will run on electricity alone up to 86 mph, provided you don鈥檛 kick the throttle down past a detent in the pedal stroke. An E-Hold mode preserves the battery鈥檚 state of charge for use later, too. E-Charge, meanwhile, uses the gas engine to charge up the battery鈥攊ts usefulness seems dubious unless you鈥檙e headed to an electric car-only zone. Porsche says the battery can be charged in 12.5 hours on a standard 110-volt outlet. Opt for the available 240-volt charger with its 7.2-watt capacity and the charge time falls to 2.4 hours. So if the 4 E-Hybrid is about guiltless performance, the Turbo S E-Hybrid goes in the opposite direction. It鈥檚 more in line with Porsche鈥檚 918 Spyder both in terms of its flagship status the way it uses hybrid tech to extract more performance. An electric motor ties up to the 4.0-liter V-8 for 680 hp and 626 lb-ft of torque, but numbers are only part of the story here. All that torque is available almost immediately, which endows the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid with Tesla-rivaling performance. Thrust is instant and intoxicating.

One demerit to both hybrid versions of the Panamera is their brake pedal feel. This regenerative system shuttles otherwise wasted energy back into the battery. At least these hybrids don鈥檛 ride or handle any differently. Their steering remains crisp and communicative, with hints of the road traveling from pavement to palm unlike any other large luxury car. The Panamera belies its heft by shuttling into corners with aplomb, but it feels like a large, planted car when the road gets bumpy. We鈥檝e not yet driven a Panamera with the standard suspension, but the three-mode adaptive setup provides a ride that can be cosseting or pleasantly firm. Even with optional 21-inch alloy wheels, the Panamera absorbs bumps both big and small in stride. Some credit is due to the Panamera鈥檚 hefty curb weight, which definitely smothers out some smaller heaves and bumps. If anything, it鈥檚 the Panamera鈥檚 length that plays a larger factor in the way it drives than its curb weight. The standard-length models come in at nearly 199 inches, while Executives stretch another 6 inches with all of that situated between the wheels. To combat this, an optional rear-wheel steering system modifies the rear axle. It helps the Panamera slot into typical parking spots with aplomb. But this being a Porsche, it also significantly aids high-speed stability and makes the car feel more poised and confident on a winding highway.

2019 Audi TT Review, Ratings, Specs, Prices, And Photos

2019 Audi TT Review, Ratings, Specs, Prices, And Photos

The 2019 Audi TT is a style statement in coupe or convertible form that ranges from comfortable toy to rip-roaring mini-supercar. With four seats, a hatchback, and a humble VW platform, the TT may seem practical on paper, but its specs can be deceiving. For its style, tech, and driving fun, we give it 6.2 out of 10 overall. For 2019, the TT is treated to a few minor tweaks and a special 20th Anniversary Edition to commemorate the original鈥檚 1999 launch with a brown leather interior, unique wheels, and a limited production run. Though not as distinctive as the original鈥攚hich brought Bauhaus back in a big way鈥攖he third-generation TT is still a handsome car in either coupe or convertible form. Sharp lines, a big trapezoidal grille, the hood-mounted badge, and big wheels round out the look nicely, but this car is deceptively small for how low and wide it seems. A soft-top convertible spoils the coupe鈥檚 sleek lines slightly, but as far as roadsters go, it鈥檚 a looker.

Inside, the driver-centric cockpit eschews a central infotainment screen in favor of the all-digital Virtual Cockpit display, passengers be damned. Thoughtful touches like the vent-mounted climate controls and excellent material quality are hallmarks of Audi design, and make for one of our favorite sports car cabins. The base TT is powered by Audi parent VW鈥檚 2.0-liter turbo-4, which starts with 220 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque and standard all-wheel-drive. The hotter TTS model boosts the same engine to 288 hp and 280 lb-ft and drops the 0-60 mph time from 5.2 to 4.4 seconds. Hardcore performance fans will want the TT RS, which shoehorns a rip-snorting 2.5-liter turbo 5-cylinder under the hood for 400 hp and 354 lb-ft, rocketing this little coupe to 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds. All TTs are capable handlers with somewhat light steering, and as letters are added to the name, grip, braking performance, and suspension firmness all increase. TT and TTS models get a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic as standard, while the RS model has one extra cog. Space is plentiful for two occupants鈥攖hough visibility is limited鈥攁nd while the TT technically has rear seats, they鈥檙e for children on rare occasions or best left folded flat to increase the size of the easily accessible cargo area. Roadsters predictably offer a smaller trunk and no back seats, but the TT roadster isn鈥檛 meant to be a daily driver while the coupe could pass for one. Standard equipment is generous, but the TT gets significantly better as you spend more on extras like Bang and Olufsen sound, navigation, and more. Unfortunately, safety tech is lacking, with no automatic emergency braking available and blind-spot monitors as optional extras. Fuel economy is strong for base models at 26 mpg combined but gets worse as power and cylinder counts increase.

The brand new Porsche 718 Cayman has landed, hot on the heels of the 718 Boxster. The new pricing structure makes a Cayman around 拢1800 less than an equivalent Boxtser. But before you reach for your cognitive fanboy rage button, remember that Porsche was winning races with mid-engined sports cars powered by four-cylinder turbo engines in the 鈥?0s and 鈥?0s. Back to today, the new Cayman is both quicker and more efficient than before, with the 2.0-litre, 300PS standard car returning 40.9mpg with a six-speed manual gearbox, up from 34.9mpg in the old six-cylinder Cayman. Porsche claims, of course, that the Cayman is more agile than ever thanks to a 鈥渃omprehensively retuned chassis鈥?including stiffer anti-roll bars, fettled dampers and a steering rack that鈥檚 ten per cent more direct. As you can see, styling changes are minimal, with the 718 Cayman basically a very thoroughly facelifted version of the outgoing car. The interior architecture remains, albeit now including the latest version of Porsche鈥檚 multimedia interface, while outside changes are consigned to the details too - most notably the beautiful Porsche-branded stretch between the taillights.

Porsche has issued two separate recalls of about 28,500 sedans, sports cars, and SUVs because of concerns about brake warning lights and possible fuel leaks. One recall affects 2017-2019 Cayenne SUVs and Panamera sedans. Drivers may not be warned as expected when the brake pads have worn out, putting them at risk of a crash, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Dealers will correct the problem by updating the instrument cluster software. Separately, Porsche is recalling 14,388 of its 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman sports cars because a piece of the luggage compartment bracket can detach in a crash and lead to a fuel leak. NHTSA says a leak was discovered during a frontal crash test conducted in February. Fuel leaks raise the risk of a fire, NHTSA says. Both recalls are expected to begin April 21, 2019. Porsche will notify owners, and dealers will perform the work free of charge.

I had 48 hours to explore England, so long as I could make my next appointment at Rolls-Royce in West Sussex. The weather was right out of Chaucer. As I was sitting in the car deciding which way to go, the BBC Two presenters brought Sting on to play madrigal odes to spring on his lute. I dialed the navigation for the seaside town of Brighton, immortalized by the stoner-film 鈥淨uadrophenia鈥?(1979), inspired by The Who album of the same name, and featuring Sting as a cruel, disaffected gang tough, albeit dreamy. With the canvas top stowed and the Bang & Olufsen hollering 鈥淟ove, Reign O鈥檈r Me,鈥?I throttled up to join the M1鈥攔um rum rum-RHAHHHH, BWAAHHHH, LOOVVEEE! 鈥攖he cars ahead giving way long before I reached them. Readers sometimes express common-sense exasperation at a six-figure price tag. 鈥淚t鈥檚 just a car! 鈥?goes this refrain, 鈥淚t gets you from A to B.鈥?I agree, especially when it comes to exotic cars whose performance is utterly inaccessible on the street.

But truly beautiful street-legal cars are rare. As evidence I give you the Aston鈥檚 competitive set, including the Mercedes-AMG S63 Cabriolet, Ferrari California T, Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet and Bentley Continental GT Speed. These are all highly accomplished, desirable automobiles, and I reckon each would be a step quicker than the Aston as getaway car in any theoretical heist of the Crown Jewels. But parked next to the Aston, they look like Soviet farm equipment. You want to impress friends and neighbors? Beauty is performance you can use. Volante is what Aston Martin calls its convertibles. Roughly translated as 鈥渇lier,鈥?it鈥檚 also the Spanish word for 鈥渟teering wheel鈥?or 鈥渟huttlecock,鈥?which sounds right. Built on the same rock-solid aluminum space frame as the DB11 coupe, the Volante weighs 253 pounds more than the coupe with same engine, due to the elaborate roof mechanism and added structural bracing. The way it works at Aston these days is that the company buys engines from Mercedes-AMG, built to its specs; Aston also avails itself to Daimler鈥檚 fairly flawless cabin electronics, including touch-sensitive rotary controller and infotainment display.

Both of these partnerships, let鈥檚 call them, has resulted a much better Aston Martin product while freeing its designers to focus on gorgeousness. The Volante鈥檚 navigation system was easy to use, with intuitive menu structure and bright, clear graphics. None of which was remotely true of the previous system. There鈥檚 nothing wrong with the German-built engine, either: a warmly resonant, mad-with-torque twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 (503 hp and 513 lb-ft 2,000-5,000 rpm) winding the works of an eight-speed automatic transmission and limited-slip rear differential with torque vectoring. Unlike the coupe, the Volante will not be made available with the 600-hp V12鈥攏ot yet. But with 0-100 mph acceleration in 8.8 seconds and a top speed, top-down, of 187 mph, the V8-powered Volante has plenty of force majeure, Major. Is the Mazda3 Hatchback the Best Car of 2019? The powertrain and vehicle dynamics (steering, braking, stability control) also get feistier on demand. The standard 20-inch alloy wheels and sport tires stick like crazy.
