Model year: as of 2009 up to 2011

Information

^ Document with limited validity

This Quick Information is valid until December 31, 2011

Vehicle Type:

Boxster/Cayman (987) model line

Carrera (997) model line

Cayenne (92A) model line

Panamera (970) model line

Concerns:

High-pressure fuel pump

Information:

We have discovered that the high-pressure pump is increasingly being replaced, but in subsequent tests carried out by the manufacturer, these

high-pressure pumps are found to be functioning correctly.

Due to various customer complaints, such as

^ engine start problems ^ reduced engine power

and the following fault memory entries in the DME control unit

^ P0190 - Fuel high-pressure sensor

^ P1030 - Fuel high-pressure sensor stuck

the high-pressure pump is being replaced (complaints can vary and problems can occur independently of each other).

In most cases, the sensor of the high-pressure pump is defective and is the cause of these complaints.

Action Required:

Diagnose the faults and work through the fault codes using "Guided Fault Finding" in PIWIS Tester II.
