- Vacuum system leaking



--> The system consists of the mechanical vacuum pump (on the vehicle engine), the leakage diagnosis pump, the intake pipe switch-over



valve and, where appropriate, the exhaust flaps in the rear muffler



- Vacuum pump faulty



- Fuse F10 faulty (fuse carrier in plenum panel E-box)



- Open circuit in voltage supply of leakage diagnosis pump



- Open circuit in control line of leakage diagnosis pump



- Leakage diagnosis pump faulty (resistance too great)



- Open circuit at connection point KE3 contact 7



Affected contacts on the DME control unit connector

- Contact 21



Affected contacts on the leakage diagnosis pump connector

Diagnostic conditions



- Vehicle voltage > 9 V



- Time after engine starts > 10 seconds



- Leakage diagnosis pump switched off



- No detection of fault P1556, P1557 or P1558



Possible fault causes



- Vacuum system leaking



--> The system consists of the mechanical vacuum pump (on the vehicle engine), the leakage diagnosis pump, the intake pipe switch-over



valve and, where appropriate, the exhaust flaps in the rear muffler



- Vacuum pump faulty



- Short circuit to ground in control line



- Leakage diagnosis pump faulty (short circuit)
