  NOTE: The line diagnostics in the DFI control unit also runs when the positive crankcase ventilation heater is switched off (i.e. over 3 °C (37 °F) outside air temperature).

  
  

  NOTE: The positive crankcase ventilation heater is continuously activated when a fault is present in recording the outside air temperature.

  
  

  Diagnostic conditions

• Battery positive voltage between 10 V and 16 V
• Time after engine starts > 1 seconds
  
  

  Possible fault causes

• Short circuit to B+
• Short circuit to ground
• Open circuit in line
• Fuse FE 50 faulty (fuse carrier on left of dashboard)
• Positive crankcase ventilation heater faulty
