  Diagnosis information - CAN Instrument cluster, communication Diagnostic conditions

  The instrument cluster initially tests internal function sequences after wake-up. If they are OK, all diagnosable outputs are then tested and any faults are stored.
  Instrument cluster wake-up through:
  
  
• Event-induced CAN message
• Wake-up signal via wake-up line
• Ignition on
  
  

  Possible fault causes

• No power supply for instrument cluster
• Instrument cluster incorrectly coded
• Short circuit or open circuit in the CAN display
• Instrument cluster faulty (in most cases the cause is not the instrument cluster but incorrect coding.)
  
  

  Fault effects

• Communication via the CAN display is no longer possible.
• No other control units are able to communicate with the instrument cluster.

  Connector [A]:
• 8 power supply - terminal 30
• 9 ground supply - terminal 31
• 23 power supply - terminal 30
• 24 ground supply - terminal 31
  
  
  Connector [B]:
• 19 CAN display high
• 20 CAN display low
