New Tab Site Suggestions

New Tab Site Suggestions

Over the past weeks, we鈥檝e talked about ways to analyze data in Firefox and to share that data out of the browser while keeping users in control. Today we鈥檙e putting those pieces together with a proof-of-concept: Site Suggest. This simple add-on locally analyzes your browsing history to pick an ODP category that you seem to have interest in then makes a secure and privacy-protected remote request for a site suggestion to then display on your new tab page. Conceptually, the flow is much like the add-on update mechanism in Firefox. Users install add-ons, then Firefox makes a request to see if any of those add-ons have updates, and then updated add-ons can change the behavior of Firefox. One thing we want to be explicitly clear is that the ODP category sent to the server is not tracked with the user. The site suggestion server does not use cookies or any way to identify the request to then use previous requests to personalize future requests. This simulates the terms of use on the user鈥檚 data where the server is only allowed to use the information in the request for that one response.

This also means that if your interests change, the server is always using the freshest data to personalize the site suggestion. For this proof-of-concept, we didn鈥檛 bother creating a large number of suggestions, so we don鈥檛 expect people to get high quality recommendations. In fact, we probably could have put all the suggestions in the add-on, and the site suggestion on new tab experience would be exactly the same. For many users, there isn鈥檛 a distinction between local suggestions and remote suggestions, and these users trust Firefox to do the right thing. But by having this secure and privacy-protected remote request, the quality of suggestions can improve without requiring a Firefox or add-on update. And this is especially important as the number of potential suggestions increase, so instead of having millions of unused suggestions built into Firefox that can become outdated, Firefox can focus on just the newest suggestions the user cares about. We would like your input on what you think about this privacy-protected flow of data that improves users鈥?Firefox experience. So install Site Suggest then open a new tab, and see if that triggers any ideas for you. As always, you can check the source on Github, provide feedback, and submit issues or suggestions!

Significant gains in acceleration are due to these changes: the 0-90 mph sprint now happens in 4.5 seconds, which is 0.7 seconds faster than the previous model. The top speed is limited at 170 miles per hour, which happens to be 8 miles per hour faster than before. 2017 Porsche 718 Boxster S is equipped with the 2.5-litre engine, which generates 350 hp (257 kW), and its greater power is boosted by the utilization of a turbocharger with variable turbine geometry. In terms of Newton meters, this car develops 419 Nm (309 lb-ft) of torque 1,900 rpm to 4,500 rpm. This means that the Boxster S is capable of reaching 60 mph 4.0 seconds, which is 0.5 seconds faster than its predecessor. Another difference is that top speed of the 718 Boxster S is 177 miles per hour - 5 miles per hour faster than previously. Both models come with standard six-speed manual transmission, while the fuel-saving Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) is offered as an option. In terms of design there are changes that need to be addressed. The front is now wider and more muscular, features larger cooling air intakes and redesigned Bi-Xenon headlights with integrated LED DRLs.

LED headlights with four-point daytime running lights come as an option. The sides of the models include new style for the wings and side sills, larger air inlet panels with two fins, and the doors come without door handle recess covers. The back of the 718 Boxsters highlights the new width, dude to the strip with integrated Porsche badge between the taillights. Speaking of which, they feature three-dimensional LED technology and four-point brake lights. Unfortunately, the interior hasn't been changed so much. There are minor updates on the elements of the instrument panel. The biggest benefit of the cabin is that tit now features Porsche Communication Management (PCM) as a standard. PCM includes cell phone preparation, audio interfaces and the 110 watt Sound Package Plus. Optionally, the system can be improved with a navigation module including voice control, or a Connect Plus module featuring extension of the navigation module. Greater agility means sportier suspension tuning and calibration. In fact, 718 Boxster's suspension was entirely retuned and as a result it delivers better cornering performance. In addition, the electric steering system is 10% more direct than previously, thus increasing agility, precision and maneuverability. Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) comes as an option here. It includes a ten millimeter lower ride height, and for the 718 Boxster S the millimeters are 20. What is more, the retuned active suspension, delivers an even broader spread between long-distance touring comfort and dynamic responsiveness. Sport Chrono Package has been created for those of you who want engaging driving experience. It features Individual program in addition to the three standard settings: Normal, Sport and Sport Plus. Those 718 Boxsters that will be equipped with PDK, will get a Sport Response Button with this pack. The button was inspired by motorsports and sharpens the responsiveness of the engine and the transmission, delivering better acceleration. 2017 Porsche 718 Boxster and Boxster S are available to order now! They will reach U.S.

For the past 20-years, the Porsche Boxster has been a somewhat achievable entry point to iconic, flat-six Porsche sports car ownership. But now, with the 2016 Porsche 718 Boxster, the 2.7-litre flat-six has made way for a 2.0-litre, turbocharged, boxer-four - pushing that six-cylinder Porsche goal just a little bit further away. 160k further away if a 911 is your new starting point. The move might upset purists, but it is supported by arguments for emissions and efficiencies, and let鈥檚 face it, a four-cylinder Porsche isn鈥檛 a new thing. There鈥檚 the 356, the 912, 914, 924, 944 and most recently the 968. Not forgetting the 1957 718 RSK Spyder, which is where the new car gets its name. Even going the other way we saw the 928 push a big atmo V8 for almost 20-years. Sure it was more GT than pure sports but you get my point, you don鈥檛 need six-eggs to bake a proper Porsche cake.
