Used Cars To Avoid

Used Cars To Avoid

Certain vehicles are notoriously a bad buy. There are things you need to look for and avoid. There are also vehicles which have a history and track record of poor performance, some of the cars listed may surprise you! Getting ready to purchase a used car? We are going to cover a few things to avoid before purchasing and also vehicles to stay away from. As with anything you purchase, experiences with likes and dislikes vary. But the cars listed within this article have a history of bad performance. The study which was done by Consumer Reports reviewed vehicles from 1999 to 2008 and rated the vehicles on performance and dependability. First things first, when purchasing a vehicle which isnt new, common sense has to come into play. If you hear funny sounds coming from the engine, maybe this might not be the auto for you. I know it sounds obvious but people are taking for fools every day at dealer lots throughout the United States.

Do not be fooled by looks, a vehicle may look great on the outside but the engine is what matters most. Sometimes people fall in love with the exterior and interiors of a vehicle and completely ignore the meat and potatoes of the auto which is the engine. As a kid I fell for that by purchasing a sporty suped up Z-24 (better known as a Chevy Cavalier), it looked great. The paint was perfect, nice rims and wheels, spoiler kit and awesome stereo system plus a nice interior with a custom steering wheel. I had to have this car, I was a teenager with limited cash and this car had what I wanted; great looks and it was priced right! I ended up paying for a lot for mechanical work, including a new engine . It was a horrible experience, on the other hand I owned an old Monte Carlo which ran great but was brown and rusting. I remember always driving alone cause the car was so ugly my friends rather walk to school then catch a ride with me. Luckily you can find a vehicle in-between my Z-24 and my old Monte Carlo, good looks and a great engine. Stay away from vehicles with salvage titles, if the insurance company decided it was not worth fixing then you should not find the vehicle worth buying. We are sharing their findings with you and you should due further research when deciding on which vehicle to purchase. Remember doing further research is always encouraged.

As anticipated and now confirmed, the venerable Porsche 911 is no longer naturally aspirated. Only turbocharged engines will be available across the lineup, and some Porsche purists are surely unsettled, to say the least. Both the base 911 and the uprated S model receive the new, smaller displacement powerplants, all in the name of fuel efficiency. The entry model is rated at 370 hp and 325 lb-ft, increases of 20 hp and 43 lb-ft over last year鈥檚 motor. The sprint to 60 mph from a standstill will hit your speedometer in 4.4 seconds. The higher-zoot S model produces 420 hp and 368 lb-ft, propelling the car to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds. Are there other updates..? Of course鈥?Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) is now standard on all 911s. The infotainment system has been updated and is now standard as well. Front and rear fascia designs are redone, including the three-dimensional taillight design first seen on the Macan. Active air intake flaps in front open and close as needed, to improve airflow or cooling. Another 911, another success. What is arguably the best everyday sports car just got better. Don鈥檛 let the turbo scare you away. One drive and these new engines will win you over.

What am I doing talking about rings..? This is not a marriage blog, so don鈥檛 panic. What I am talking about is a racetrack in Germany called the Nurburgring. This race course was completed in the late 1920s and used for the German Grand Prix several years both before and after World War II. The track, with over 120 turns during its most difficult configuration, was so complex and dangerous that it was actually boycotted at one time by Formula 1 drivers and nicknamed 鈥渢he Green Hell鈥?by Jackie Stewart. So why is the Connoisseur talking about a race track in Germany? Have you ever driven a BMW, Porsche, Audi, Nissan (GT-R), Mercedes-Benz or even a recent Cadillac CTS and appreciated the way the car handled a challenging section of road? You can thank the 鈥榬ing, as these manufacturers have taken to developing and tuning various models on what鈥檚 known as the Nordschleife (northern loop) of the track. There is a quantifiable benefit to this, in the Connoisseur鈥檚 opinion, and it鈥檚 nice to see more manufacturers utilizing the facility. One rather curious tidbit of information - on days when the track is not closed for racing, testing or repairs, it is actually open to the public as a one-way toll road. Any street legal car, bus or even motor home can be driven on this historic track at your discretion. Simply purchase the amount of laps you desire and off you go..! Just remember that this is no place to try doing your 鈥淚 think I am a real race driver鈥?impression.
