With manufactures trying to increase fuel economy by adding forced induction to vehicles that previously had large displacement engines, the ability to tune them further is even more prevalent now. However there are 2 main issues with tuning these newer vehicles. The manufactures have gotten very particular about having their ECUs accessed to be tuned. These "anti tuning" features make it hard to read and write the ECU via the OBDII port. Some ECUs can be removed and flashed on the bench once the case is open. This is an immediate flag to the dealer which ultimately will void your power train warranty if a situation arose. This is where the VR Tuned Tuning Box Kits come into play over the competition. How fickle we鈥檝e gotten as newer Bimmers have debuted. I was worried that the interior would be boring and the technology would feel dated on the inside, compared to modern BMWs. For the former, I was pleasantly surprised, as the Hyper Orange Extended Alcantara/Leather interior with the 鈥淏lack Orange Color World鈥?was one of the most interesting and exciting interior color schemes I鈥檝e seen in a long time. For the latter, I was spot-on. While the iDrive system and technology in the Z4 is good, it feels dated and slow in comparison to modern BMW stuff. It鈥檚 in a desperate need of an update. However, none of that mattered once I pressed the starter button. When it comes time to turn the wheel, the Z4 isn鈥檛 as exciting as its double-orange color scheme would make it seem. While the steering is quick and accurate, it鈥檚 seriously lacking any sort of feel or even any useful weight. Even in sport mode, the steering doesn鈥檛 weight up in corners as much as we鈥檇 like and it鈥檚 overly light. However, it is accurate and, after some getting used to, it鈥檚 very easy to place on the road. I just wish it was a bit more confidence inspiring in either its feel, weight or both. But body roll is nonexistent and chassis dynamics are still quite good. Okay, so the Z4 won鈥檛 frighten a Porsche Boxster or even the new Audi TT, but there鈥檚 an old-school roadster feel to it that makes it fun to drive.

Former Formula One racer and Le Mans winner Mark Blundell has announced that he鈥檒l be driving in this season鈥檚 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship. Race wins in the US CART series followed along with more Le Mans drives before he turned his attention to his sports management business MB Partners, which mentors and manages elite and up-and-coming racing drivers. Speaking about his BTCC debut, Blundell said: 鈥淥nce the opportunity arose to get back behind the wheel, it was always something I was very keen to make happen. 鈥淚 have been lucky enough to have had a fantastic motor racing career to date and to have been a part of British motorsport for many years. Blundell will be lining up against BTCC veterans Jason Plato and Matt Neal as well as 2018 champion Colin Turkington and Nicolas Hamilton, brother of F1 champion Lewis. Since the beginning of the championship in 1958, F1 stars have been regular starters in BTCC. In the sixties Jim Clark crossed over to the tin-top series, while more recently Johnny Herbert, Derek Warwick, Jonathan Palmer and Nigel Mansell have also raced BTCC cars. The BTCC marks Blundell鈥檚 return to front-line motorsport for the first time in six years. It also marks the start of a new sponsorship package from a large global company, details of which will be announced in the coming weeks. 鈥淢y participation in the series has come about due to a hugely exciting partnership that we are looking forward to announcing in the coming weeks,鈥?said Blundell. What do you think of Mark Blundell's return to BTCC?

Round 1o of the Porsche Cup Challenge took place in Riyadh's Reem Circuit last week. The weather was hot, the atmosphere intense and the concentration levels off the roof. The qualifying session lap times were very close, as this circuit is considered home ground to many of the drivers competing in this challenge, making it all the more exciting. The race started off with an aggressive roar of the cars' engines, going down the straight and into the first turn. Prince Abdulaziz did not have a perfect start and Fahad took advantage passing him right away. Considered an important race to Prince Abdulaziz to secure the title and win in between a home crowd, he was pushing very hard. But a consistent performance with no mistakes and skillful defensive driving saw the youngest ever driver in the history of the Porsche one-make racing series make history taking his first pole position of the season.
