The Ferrari 458 is a magnificent achievement. A stellar example of art, design and engineering working in perfect harmony. And with a glee-inducing 0-60 time, hovering precariously near the precipice of three seconds, it would seem a bit futile for someone to challenge such a car to a race in their seemingly benign E30 BMW. And even after the aforementioned 458 dusted a Speedart BTR 600 Porsche 911 Turbo 9997 and a stock Nissan GT-R. Neither of which are slouches, in any sense of the word. Confidence in abundance for the Ferrari drive, it seems. An easy defeat ready to be handed to any who challenge. Only one problem - this isn鈥檛 just your stock E30. No. Try a heinously turbocharged engine. And a roll-cage. And E85 ethanol fuel. Oh, and suitably gold wheels, which almost certainly clinched that extra five horsepower gain any self-respecting drag racer needs. In all seriousness, the video below is quite the sight to see.

Like the DB9 and its sibling DBR9 and DBRS9 race cars, the DBS uses Aston Martin's category-leading all-alloy VH (Vertical Horizontal) design, a light-weight bonded aluminum structure that gives outstanding strength and rigidity. Carbon-fiber panels are used for the boot enclosure, boot lid, door gap surrounds, front wings and bonnet, giving a saving of some 30kg over a lot of standard materials without any reduction in strength. The damper settings are determined by an electronic control unit which takes sensor readings from the automobile's systems, including throttle position, brake position, steering wheel rotation and vehicle speed. The DBS's Adaptive Damping System ensures that stiffer dampers are out there for higher handling and management when the car is being driven enthusiastically, while not compromising ride comfort throughout traditional driving conditions. A designated Track mode automatically sets all dampers to their firmest positions, creating it ideal for circuit driving. The DBS is fitted with Pirelli P-Zero tires that have been developed particularly for the automobile, along with new 20-in. lightweight alloy wheels. The DBS also incorporates a revised Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) system, designed to help maintain most traction in challenging driving conditions. The automotive's braking system marks the primary time Carbon Ceramic Matrix (CCM) brakes are used on a road-going Aston Martin. The end result is shorter stopping distances with glorious resistance to fade in even the most demanding driving conditions. CCM brakes are also some 12.5kg lighter than a conventional system, reducing the weight of the automotive overall and, in particular, the unsprung weight and rotational masses, further enhancing the performance of the suspension.

The effect was that commercial users of electricity would be limited to three specified consecutive days鈥?consumption each week and prohibited from working longer hours on those days. Analysing the E-type production figures, it appears during the three-day week Jaguar managed to produce around 730 cars despite the restrictions, suggesting the implications of the steep oil price rises had not hit home. Lofty England retired from Jaguar at the end of January 1974, citing friction with Lord Stokes nominee Geoffrey Robinson, who replaced him as chairman. As for the E-type, time was running out. All cars exported to the USA from 1974 had to have ungainly rubber bumper over riders which added weight and further distorted the cars appearance. To be fair to Jaguar, many pundits felt that the energy crisis would not affect Jaguar because of the pre-energy crisis waiting list for their cars, but quite clearly it had. The final E-type, registered HDU 555N was retained by Jaguar Cars, the last of 72,233 cars. At least two Series 3 E-types were fitted with a five speed gearbox designed by Trevor Commins, working under Harry Mundy. The E-type left an enduring legacy which enabled people to forget its faults. In September 1975 the Jaguar XJ-S was launched.

As Porsche's smallest and most affordable sports car, the 2019 Porsche 718 Cayman isn't some watered-down VW wearing a fancy badge, it's a genuine performance machine. After Garber Automotive Group acquired 4 Rochester area dealerships in the fall of 2011, including Porsche, Kevin Parker was named the new General Manager/ Managing Partner of the dealerships. November of 2014 marked Kevin鈥檚 30 year milestone in the industry, spending the past 15 years with the Garber organization as General Manager. Kevin states, 鈥淚 am both honored and excited to be here in Rochester. It is a privilege to lead these fine individuals who have been a part of the Holtz group for many years. I pledge to you my commitment to serving our customers with the highest level of service and supporting our community. I look forward to meeting you and getting to know the Rochester area. If you鈥檝e looked beyond the 718 Boxster or Cayman for an S, GTS, or even higher performance model, you鈥檙e not alone. But yesterday Porsche unveiled the 718 Boxster and Cayman T, giving us a new reason to consider a Porsche with the base engine. The base engine, in this case, is a mid-mounted turbocharged 2.0-liter flat-four making 300 horsepower and sending it to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual or seven-speed PDK automatic transmission. This is Porsche鈥檚 least-powerful engine fitted to a sports car at the moment, yet all 718s can dispatch 0-60 miles per hour in less than five seconds. That鈥檚 nothing to sniff at. Porsche took measures to reduce the car鈥檚 weight, including fabric interior door-pull straps instead of plastic levers, sport seats with electric backrest adjustment, and, crucially, the removal of the Porsche Communications Management (PCM) unit in the dashboard. In the US, PCM is a requirement because regulations necessitate backup cameras and, in turn, a screen to display what the cameras see.
