I've always loved these cars, but the fact the last gen S is a 280hp car at my altitude is a deal breaker. Where are you getting that weight? I think the Cayman is more in the 3,150lb range. Awesome, lets just hope the little 2.5 is stout. I've always loved these cars, but the fact the last gen S is a 280hp car at my altitude is a deal breaker. The difference with the 2.5 compared to the six cylinders on which it is based is it has a larger bore. Thinner cylinder walls but I would need to see a shot of the block. Knowing Porsche they wouldn't go too thin (like BMW). The difference with the 2.5 compared to the six cylinders on which it is based is it has a larger bore. Knowing Porsche they wouldn't go too thin (like BMW). I wouldn't be looking for crazy power so I'm not worried about cylinder walls (unless they really f'd up). I think 400whp on a day to day basis would be the right amount for the car. 500whp with the wick turned up would make for some fun. I agree and that's probably the sweet spot. 500 whp in that light car with the PDK will make for a blast. Z06 humbling performance is a far nimbler car. The 718 deserves more love. As much as we love technology and all that it affords in new automobiles today (especially Adaptive Cruise Control, Apple CarPlay, and Torque Vectoring), we certainly lament the ongoing decline of the manual transmission. Well, Porsche still cares since their latest 718 Cayman GT4 only comes with a glorious 6-speed manual transmission. And get this, the GT4 gets the potent and sonorous naturally-aspirated flat-six engine Porschephiles love so much, as do we. So, it essentially takes some travel backwards to make the make the 718 Cayman GT4 go forward better than ever. The engine is a very welcomed non-turbo 4.0-liter flat six-cylinder engine that throws down 414 horsepower and 309 lb-ft of torque, a little bit less than the stock Porsche 911 Carrera. The most important part of the equation is that the GT4 uses an old-school stick shift (Porsche manual transmissions are positively sublime). There's no disclosure about 0-60 times, but since the GT4 is really a driver-focused model, the Stuttgart automaker decided to give it what drivers love best, ultimate control through roping your own gears.
