The 2020 Porsche 911 has been revealed at the 2018 LA Auto Show, ushering in the eighth generation of the famous sports car. Powering the 911 Carrera S and 4S is an updated turbocharged flat-six engine making 443 horsepower, a jump of 23 horses compared to today鈥檚 car. Mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, the Carrera S will get to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds. The brand has confirmed that a manual transmission will be offered sometime after launch, but Porsche hasn鈥檛 said exactly when yet. Adding four-wheel drive bumps the 0-60 mph to 3.4 seconds, while the optional Sport Chrono Package gets an extra 0.2 seconds off the time. Top speed for the new car is pegged at 191 miles per hour or 190 with all-wheel drive. New driver assist systems have been included on the car like the Porsche Wet Mode and new optional Night Vision Assist with thermal imaging. The wet mode will actually detect when there is water on the road and tune the stability control and ABS accordingly, along with alerting the driver. A new camera-based warning and braking system is also part of the 911鈥檚 technology suite, able to detect moving objects and initiate emergency braking if necessary.
