During Steady State Operation

During Steady State Operation

Independent verification of the accuracy of data from Event Data Recorders (EDRs) is useful when using the information to help reconstruct a crash. To this end, the accuracy of the EDR function of the Airbag Control Module (ACM) was tested on 2010 and 2011 Toyota Camry sedans during straight line operation. During steady state operation, and maximum ABS-braking runs starting from approximately 80 km/h (50 mph), and 113 km/h (70 mph), non-deployment events were artificially induced to store event data. Following each run, the EDR was imaged using the Bosch Crash Data Retrieval (CDR) system. The CDR reported speed values were compared to Racelogic VBox differential GPS speed records. Data recorders were also used to monitor the vehicle Controller Area Network (CAN) bus traffic, including the indicated speed, brake pressure, engine RPM, and accelerator pedal position. The speed and RPM reporting algorithms stated in CDR Data Limitations were confirmed. Exemplar graphs of EDR-reported speed/brake/RPM/accel pedal data versus GPS speed and CAN bus data are presented and discussed. The timing of the reported data with respect to the event is also discussed. 0.4 to 鈭?.3 km/h, with the EDR typically reporting lower than the GPS. 15 km/h, with wheel slip causing negative differences, and time delay since the last CAN bus update causing positive differences.

Marco Werner returned on ninth overall position into the race after a full pit stop including the driver change. Meanwhile, Frank Biela who had started from seventh place improved to sixth position that he held throughout his stint. In lap 43, he was due for his pit stop including a driver change to Emanuele Pirro. Only two lap later, however, debris on the track caused a full course yellow period of four laps. With more than half the race gone, Audi didn鈥檛 seem to be the likely winner. However, both Marco Werner and Emanuele Pirro made best use of the Audi TDI power and grabbed back position after position. In lap 57, Marco Werner passed Porsche driver Romain Dumas and took the lead. After a third and final safety car phase between lap 58 to lap 60, Emanuele Pirro overtook Romain Dumas as well and completed the Audi 1-2 victory.

In 25 races, the Audi R10 TDI has scored 15 victories so far, emphasizing its strenghts once again even on a type of circuit it has never been designed for. It is a tremendous success for us, for Audi, for Team Champion and for Audi Sport North America. I think our boss Dr Ullrich is be delighted as well. The 1-2 finish was the icing on the cake. It was a thrilling race. Towards the end, Marco drove such a strong race that I could hardly watch at it - I had to turn away from the screens. A superb result for Audi. After qualifying, you wouldn鈥檛 have necessarily expected a 1-2 finish. It was quite tight in qualifying so we have hoped for a good result, but I wouldn鈥檛 have put my money on it. Both cars worked well. In the first ten minutes, I was struggling a little bit with tyre temperatures and grip but then it worked out perfectly for the remainder of my one-hour stint. It was a great team effort by everybody. The drivers did a great job. Also, we had a very good strategy. To win here was very difficult. But to come home 1-2 was really a surprise to me.

German tuner SpeedArt is the first company to release a tuning program for the brand new Porsche Boxster S (981), called Porsche Sport Cars speedART Boxster SP81-R. The third generation Porsche Boxster has exited speedART's garage after it received a mild makeover and a small power boost. Based on the Porsche Boxster (981), the model features an aerodynamic body kit with a front spoiler, revised side skirts, a rear diffuser and a prominent wing. Porsche Sport Cars speedART Boxster SP81-R can also be equipped with 20- and 21-inch LSC forged alloy wheels. The SP81-R Boxsters sit lower on their sport tuned suspensions, height adjustable absorbers and stiff coils. Still, an airlift suspension is also provided in other to tackle even the beefiest of speed humps.
