The 2018 Porsche Panamera gets a new wagon body style called the Sport Turismo and a new range-topping variant known as the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid. The 2018 Porsche Panamera is available in hatchback or wagon body styles and in either rear- or all-wheel drive configurations. In addition to the standard gas-powered models鈥?there are two hybrid variants available, the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid and the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid. There鈥檚 also a long-wheelbase variant for the Panamera hatchback, which adds extra leg room and cargo capacity. The 2018 Panamera offers five powertrain options that are paired exclusively to a new eight-speed twin-clutch automatic transmission. Plug-in hybrid models have slightly less, at 14.3 cubic feet with the second row in place and 44 cubic feet with them down. Standard equipment includes 19-inch alloy wheels, the PCM interface with navigation and a 12.3-inch touchscreen, a 10-speaker audio system, LED headlights, Bluetooth connectivity, Apple CarPlay integration, keyless drive, two-zone climate control, a rearview camera and heated front seats.
In a 2017 First Drive, we noted that the Panamera 4S鈥?new twin-turbo V-6 engine and the Panamera Turbo鈥檚 new 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 are smooth and at home driving at high speeds. 鈥檚 exhaust. Even in Comfort mode, the Panamera stays planted at high speeds and never feels sloppy. The Panamera E-Hybrid, on the other hand, is a stealth hybrid, featuring only small hints at its electrified nature such as the acid green accents and brake calipers. However, since it has a dual-clutch transmission, there鈥檚 shunting at low speeds especially when the car is slowing down. The more practical Panamera Sport Turismo retains the same strong acceleration as its hatchback siblings but with more practicality and seating for up to five. However, the center rear seat is best reserved for smaller passengers since it鈥檚 quite tight, as we noted in a 2018 First Drive. Despite the additional weight of the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, its acceleration is explosive and feels right at home on the track despite it being such a large car. Out on the road, we noted in a 2018 First Drive that the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid is also an excellent cruiser and can travel in electric mode for a short time.
