Take Home This 45-Mile Porsche 918 Weissach For A Cool $2.2 Million
The Porsche 918 may be gone, but it certainly isn't forgotten. The hybrid hypercar hit the scene in 2013, and though it stuck around for just two years, made a name for itself against rivals like the LaFerrari and the McLaren P1. 845,000 when new, it was relatively affordable in a class of million-dollar MSRPs. But more used models are showing up online, and they ain't cheap. 2.19 million. But we'd argue it's worth the exuberant asking price. 85,000 worth of options. Things like magnesium Spyder wheels, lighter brakes, ceramic wheel bearings, titanium chassis bolts, and a bunch aerodynamic aids boost the asking price. Even more impressive is how lightly used it is. The odometer reads out just 45 original miles (72 kilometers) - delivery miles, to be precise. The 4.6-liter hybrid V8, paired with two electric motors, produces a whopping 887 horsepower (661 kilowatts) and 944 pound-feet (1,280 Newton-meters) of torque. Paired to a lone seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive, this 918 is capable of sprinting to 60 miles per hour (96 kilometers per hour) in just 2.5 seconds, and on to a top speed of 211 mph (340 kmh). Black leather coats nearly every inch of the cabin. 1,400. Lightweight bucket seats and a Burmester high-end surround sound system come standard on this trim. 2.2-million asking price, this is one pretty Porsche.
1,200 panoramic roof allows a bit more sunlight into the low-roofed cabin. 450 can be spent on HD and satellite radio. I'm going to close by addressing the rear-engined elephant in the room - the Porsche 911 Carrera. When optioned up to this sort of specification and price point, the German is the F-Type's most natural challenger, but despite this, I have come up with an exceptionally simple method of determining which you should buy. If a car's driving dynamics and communicativeness are the most important attributes driving your purchasing decision, buy the 911. You'll love it. If you have any other priorities, though, buy the Jag. Simply put, for the average driver, the F-Type will provide more satisfaction every day than the Porsche. 911's dynamic abilities, but its limits are more approachable. Plus, the total F-Type package is far easier on both the ears and - at least to me - the eyes. 100 more than the 400-hp Carrera S). It's important to note that those savings show up before digging into Porsche's notorious options catalog.
Toyota unveiled the 2019 Corolla Hatchback earlier this year, so it comes as little surprise that the model is receiving a lot of attention at SEMA. As part of this effort, the company has introduced a one-off Corolla that pays tribute to the AE86. Built by Muscle Tuner Automotive, the car features a custom body kit which includes an aluminum front splitter, canards, side skirt extensions and a large diffuser. The model also has a custom vinyl wrap which mimics visual cues from the AE86. In terms of performance, the Corolla has been outfitted with a custom air intake, a straight pipe exhaust and a nitrous oxide injection system. The car also rides on lightweight wheels which are wrapped in Bridgestone RE-71R performance tires. The Super Street Corolla has a more restrained appearance, but it has been equipped with a bright red wrap and an assortment of carbon fiber components. Other notable changes include six-spoke Volk Racing wheels which are wrapped in Falken tires and backed up by Wilwood brakes.
Under the skin, there鈥檚 a coilover suspension and an upgraded engine with a quad exhaust system and a new air intake. Other highlights include bucket racing seats and a custom audio system with a massive subwoofer. Next up is SoCal Kustomz鈥檚 Corolla which is a bit of a change for the company as they specialize in vintage American muscle cars. Regardless, the firm didn鈥檛 have any problems with the car as they kept the exterior modifications to a minimum. However, they added a Fast and Furious inspired wrap as well as Motegi MR138 wheels shod in Nexen N鈥橣era SUR4 tires. While the exterior styling isn鈥檛 too exciting, the car鈥檚 engine has been outfitted with a nitrous oxide injection system and a custom exhaust. The hatchback has also been equipped with an assortment of performance upgrades including new springs and a high-performance air intake. Other updates include an Ark Performance exhaust and racing seats. While most of the concepts were built to serve a single purpose, Hoonigan鈥檚 is different as the car was also designed to be used for filming. As part of this mission, the model can be outfitted with a crane, a gimbal and a Red Dragon camera featuring a Canon 17-120mm lens. Lastly, Papadakis Racing modified a Corolla to compete in the Formula DRIFT Pro series. This required extensive changes including a switch from front- to rear wheel drive. The car鈥檚 standard engine was also replaced by a turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder that produces 850 hp. In effect, the model is a clone of the company鈥檚 standard Corolla drift car.
