Information:
If the center console oddments tray cover is in the fully open position, a high rearward or lateral force can cause it to break away from its mounting.
In the past, a broken oddments tray cover necessitated the replacement of the complete center console. A retrofit/repair kit is now available to repair
a broken oddments tray cover. It is no longer necessary to replace a complete center console for a broken oddments tray cover!
The retrofit/repair kit consists of a metal hinge plate that is pop-riveted to the center console. (Figure 1, arrow) The pop-rivets expand into two
U-brackets, for additional strength and support. A steel hinge pin is inserted into a completely captive bore, and attaches the cover to the center
console. The retrofit kit significantly improves the strength of the oddments tray cover mounting point.
