Illuminated Vanity Mirror - Light Inoperative

Vehicle Type:

Boxster/Boxster S

Model Year:

As of '97 (V)

Concerns:

Illuminated vanity mirror (I No. 274) in the sun visor - light inoperative.

Information:

In addition to defective bulbs or a blown fuse (fuse C3), the problem can also be caused by a disengaged contact spring in the vanity mirror. The

contact spring disengages when the opened cover of the vanity mirror is "overpressed" past the end position.

In the event of a complaint, replace the vanity mirror. Previously only the complete sun visor was available. The vanity mirror housing is now

available as an individual part.

Parts Information:

Tools:

Slotted screwdriver (small and medium width) or narrow plastic wedge

Torx wrench T20

Side cutters

Knife or cable insulation stripper, crimp

Connector and crimping pliers

Heat shrink tubing or electrical tape

Hot-air gun

Work Procedure:

Replace illuminated vanity mirror in the sun visor. The previous mirror insert will continue to be used. The work can be carried out with sun visor

installed or removed. In the following, the work is described for a removed sun visor.
