Porsche Electrified Hypercar Coming 2019 At The Earliest

It was mid-2015 when Porsche concluded production of the 918 Spyder, but it鈥檚 going to take a while before a new flagship will fill in the void. Much like it was the case with Porsche鈥檚 member of the Hypercar Holy Trinity, the replacement is going to adopt an electrified powertrain. The reveal was made by Porsche head honcho Oliver Blume during an interview with the media gathered at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. He motivated the company鈥檚 decision to wait before releasing a new hypercar by saying battery technology isn鈥檛 quite ready yet suitable for a range topper of this level. He estimates it will take another three to four years before the advancement of batteries will catch up and become appropriate for a new car with the same status as the limited-run 918 Spyder. The product strategy already includes the electrified hypercar, but Porsche hasn鈥檛 made up its mind whether there will still be a combustion engine in the mix. There鈥檚 a chance solid-state batteries could be used in the new 鈥渉igh-performing car鈥?as characterized by Blume, with the German marque teaming up with Stanford University to work on what could revolutionize the EV segment. Research conducted by Porsche reveals a driving range of 1,000 kilometers (621 miles) will be possible using solid-state batteries, which will be 30 percent lighter than the current packs. In addition, 99 percent of the battery鈥檚 materials will be recyclable. 100 million in California-based tech company QuantumScape to work on solid-state batteries. The ultimate goal is to establish a production line by the middle of the next decade.

Does Anyone have Porsche: Excellence Was Expected by Karl Ludvigsen? Or The Carrera RS book? I have been considering purchasing this book but am amazed by the price. I have read the reviews in Excellence and other Porsche magazines but am still not convinced. Also any info on Carrera RS would be nice.|||Well, it's probably not for me to say, but it may be useful for you to know that it took me eight years, on and off, to write Excellence Was Expected. It contains half a million words in more than 1,500 pages and is considered the bible on Porsche. In its several editions over the years it has benefitted from updating and the inputs of many experts. What's important about it is that it tells you not only what Porsche did but also why and how it did it from road cars to racing cars and from the very beginning. Other books tell you "what" but not "why". Thus if you're curious about Porsche and are eager to know more about the men, the company and the cars, this is the book for you. If you just want facts rather than knowledge, this may not be your book.

The Porsche Automobile Company is perhaps best known for its flagship car the 911. It is a two door luxury sports car and one of the most sought after luxury cars in the world. The company has built its brand on two door luxury sports cars so when it brought the four door luxury SUV Cayenne to market it stunned the industry. Porsche has in recent years been diversifying it's line up of cars to remain competitive in the increasing luxury car market. To that end it has introduced the 2010 Porsche Panamera; it's first four door, four seater luxury sedan. The first difference between the new four door Panamera and the average two door model is that the Panamera is a front engine loaded sports vehicle, while the vast majority of two door models are rear engined. This is a huge difference and puts the Panamera in direct competition with other luxury cars in this class like the Mercedes CLS. The four door Porsche is also of course much longer than the two door model at 195.7 inches to accommodate the extra two doors and backseats. It is even longer than the Cayenne SUV by 6.9 inches but will not be mistaken for anything but a sports car because of it's low standing profile at only 55.8 inches. The four door Panamera may be a luxury sedan but it definitely has the power of a two door sports car. The average engine size will be a 400 horsepower 4.8 liter V8. The new four door Panamera will be a great option for consumers in the market for a powerful luxury sedan.
