The 2018 Porsche Cayenne gets a new cabin air filter and an updated instrument cluster that shows air circulation. A new Cayenne debuts for the 2019 model year with an evolutionary exterior design and new powertrain options shared with the second-generation Panamera. Slotting above the smaller Macan, the 2018 Porsche Cayenne is the brand鈥檚 midsize crossover that comes standard with all-wheel drive and is available in gas or plug-in hybrid variants. The 2018 Porsche Cayenne is available with five different engine options that are all paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission. All variants of the Cayenne have a towing capacity of 7,716 pounds when properly equipped. Like all Porsche models, the Cayenne can be customized with a full range of upholsteries and unique exterior colors. This includes two-tone interior schemes with unique contrast stitching, colored seatbelts, and interior trim ranging from wood and metal to carbon fiber. The 2018 Cayenne hasn鈥檛 been crash tested by the NHTSA and IIHS. Lane keep assist and lane change assist are bundled together as a single option. Adaptive cruise control is bundled together with Porsche Active Safe (PAS), a system that combines automatic emergency braking and forward collision warning. Lane departure warning is a standalone option. The Cayenne S E-Hybrid proved that it鈥檚 still capable when the road starts to turn with its excellent handling despite the additional weight added by the hybrid powertrain鈥檚 extra components. However, as with most hybrids, the Cayenne S E-Hybrid鈥檚 steering is lackluster and not very communicative. The plug-in hybrid powertrain offers plenty of power and is right at home at high speeds, as we noted in a 2015 First Drive. Interior quality is typical Porsche with soft touch, high-grade materials throughout the cabin.
The patient sustained a periorbital contusion to the left orbit, with ecchymosis and superficial abrasions. On initial ophthalmologic examination, the patient had best spectacle-corrected visual acuity of 20/20 in the right eye and 20/200 in the left eye. Pupillary examination showed a normal round, reactive right pupil. The left pupil was fixed at 6 mm and showed multiple iris sphincter tears. Dilated ftinduscopy showed a normal right eye. The left fundus had diffuse commotio retinae involving the posterior pole, including the macula. Orbital x-rays showed no fractures. The hyphema resolved completely within 5 days. By the sixth week, the patients best spectacle-corrected visual acuity had improved to 20/20 in both eyes. Gonioscopy was performed at 6 weeks and showed a 280掳 angle recession.
The intraocular pressure remained elevated, necessitating the use of timolol 0.5% twice daily and apraclonidine 0.5% three times a day to maintain control. The pupil has multiple sphincter tears and is 5 mm and round. The patient experienced visually significant glare and photophobia and was given a course of 1% pilocarpine, which decreased the pupil size to 3.5 mm. Six months after the original injury, the patient noticed a blind spot in the central vision of the left eye. Funduscopy with a contact lens showed a mottled fovea with a possible partial-thickness hole in the left eye. Intravenous fluorescein angiogram and retinal consultation were obtained. The patient had a lamellar macular hole in the eye. Her best spectacle-corrected visual acuity remains 20/20 in the left eye. She still has the central blind spot. Case 3. A 56-year-old Chinese-American man was driving a 1994 Toyota Camry at approximately 60 miles per hour in a rainstorm. He lost control of the automobile and crashed into the central divider. He was wearing a 3-point lap-shoulder seat belt.
