2019 Porsche 911 S And 4S

2019 Porsche 911 S And 4S

Faster, more emotional, and more connected - the eighth generation of the Porsche 911 is here. On the eve of the Los Angeles Auto Show, the new 911 celebrated its world premiere at the Porsche Experience Center Los Angeles. With an exterior that unmistakably reflects the Porsche design DNA, a more muscular look, and a completely new interior layout, the new 911 is both timeless and modern. The next generation of flat-six turbocharged engines has been further developed to be more powerful than ever before, delivering 443 horsepower in the S models. Using an improved injection process, as well as a new layout for the turbochargers and intercoolers, the efficiency of the engine has been further optimized. Power is delivered by a new eight-speed, dual-clutch transmission. New assistance systems such as the standard Porsche Wet Mode for increased driver awareness on wet roads, and the optional Night Vision Assist with a thermal imaging camera, are part of the broadened array of available active driver assistance features.

The turbocharged flat-six engine of the 911 Carrera S and 911 Carrera 4S now produces 443 horsepower. This corresponds to an increase of 23 horsepower compared with the previous model. The exterior design has been revamped and underlines the leap in performance of the new Porsche 911. Significantly wider wheel housings arch over large 20-inch front wheels and 21-inch rear wheels. At the front, the body width has increased by 45 millimeters (1.77 inches), making room for a wider front track. Correspondingly, the rear body width on both 911 Carrera S and 911 Carrera 4S has increased to 1,852 mm (72.91 in), the width of the previous 911 Carrera 4 and 911 GTS models. Flush integration of the electric door handles that extend outward when needed emphasizes the tapered and smooth side contour. Between the new LED headlights, the front luggage compartment lid with pronounced contours evokes the design of the first 911 generations. The rear is dominated by the significantly wider, variable-position rear spoiler and the seamless, elegant light bar which is now a feature on both two- and four-wheel drive variants.

With the exception of the front and rear fasciae, the entire outer skin is now made of aluminum. The completely new interior is characterized by the clear and straight lines of the dashboard with recessed instruments. Porsche 911 models from the 1970s provided the inspiration here. Left and right of the centrally positioned tachometer, which is characteristic for Porsche, two thin, frameless, free-form displays provide the driver with information. The PCM can be operated quickly and intuitively thanks to the new architecture. Located underneath the screen, a compact switch panel with five buttons provides direct access to key vehicle functions. In terms of digitalization, the 911 is more connected than ever before thanks to new functions and services. The standard PCM system features Porsche Connect Plus including online traffic information based on swarm data. The availability of Porsche Connect services is dependent on the availability of wireless network coverage which may not be available in all areas, and may be subject to eventual technology sun-set or deactivation, thus nullifying services. The vehicle equipment necessary to use Porsche Connect is only available factory-installed, and cannot be retrofitted. Likewise, the vehicle equipment may not work with future mobile networks yet to be deployed. Some functions may require separate subscriptions, or data charges may apply. 1,050 delivery, processing and handling fee. The models can be ordered now and are expected to reach U.S.

The car also has a complete set of basic standard navigation maps. You can enter addresses or look up points of interest using the MMI controller on the console. Audi S5 doesn't have the same touch pad as the A7. However, it still has an impressive voice command system. The data connection also gives you weather, news and petrol price updates. You can easily find a nearby petrol station and go get the tank filled. The price listed is also very accurate. One thing that is missing from the in-car data services is social apps, such as Twitter or Facebook. It can stream via Bluetooth from your iPhone, showing track lists on its LCD. It also has a USB adapter cable and auxiliary input adapter. There are two slots on the dashboard which support MP3 tracks stored on SD cards. However, inserting a CD can be harder but the car rips it to the hard drive. Audi is renowned for its interiors in the industry. The interiors feel very solidly engineered. A five star Euro NCAP rating means safety is absolutely first class. S5 hasn't faced any major recalls so regular servicing should make it run for long. The Audi S5 has some flaws too. It has an engine which is petrol thirsty and it is pricier than an S4. It can also be too understated for some. However, it boasts fantastic performance, great looks and premium interior quality. The Audi S5 blends scorching performance, luxury and practicality to give an attractive package.

Porsche鈥檚 polarizing Cayenne SUV is set to debut in second generation form. This revision is from the ground up and corrects what were many of the previous generation鈥檚 faults. In realizing the Cayenne should have more of an on-road bias, the reduction in off-road mechanical bits has helped the engineers shave a few hundred pounds from the previous model. Less weight equals better performance and improved fuel efficiency. All this despite a slight increase in both length and width over the previous model. Another point of dissatisfaction was the Cayenne鈥檚 design. Fortunately both the exterior and interior appear to have been greatly improved. The outside aesthetic reveals a sleeker SUV with more sporting intentions, befitting of a Porsche. The interior is vastly improved as well, with many design cues coming from the recently introduced Panamera sedan. Being that we are talking about a Porsche, it鈥檚 time to chat about powerplants. There will be four engine options on the new edition. The 鈥渆ntry-level鈥?Cayenne gets a 300-hp V6 which will get you to 60 mph in 7.1 seconds according to the manufacturer. The Cayenne S model ups the ante with a V8 producing 400-hp. The speed fiends among you will appreciate the Cayenne Turbo, a twin-turbocharged V8 good for 500 raging horsepower. The final option is for the greenies out there鈥?a hybrid that touts a 333-hp supercharged V6 engine along with a 47-hp electric motor. Performance is said to be on par with the Cayenne S. Mileage figures for the model range have not been released as of this writing. All-in-all I really like the work of the team at Zuffenhausen. You will see the new Cayenne in showrooms in July, with the exception being the hybrid which has an expected fall arrival.
