Off-road racing specialists KTM have thoroughly revised and updated its motocross and enduro motorcycle range for 2019, with 11 new models making it to Malaysia. There are two two-stroke 300 cc enduro models in KTM鈥檚 2019 range, the 300 EXC TPI at RM 44,000 and the 300 EXC TPI Six Days at RM 48,000, similarly priced to the four-stroke 250 EXC-F bikes. For 2019, major improvements have been made to the handling prowess of KTM鈥檚 off-roaders, as well as weight reduction. Of note on the 250 SX-F is a 40 mm longer sub-frame for safety on jumps and a 5 mm longer swingarm to improve straight line stability. The 250 SX-F also gets a steel diaphragm (DS) clutch which takes the place of traditional clutch springs. This allows for a weight reduction of 190 grammes in engine weight as well as three levels of clutch engagement. Able to be registered for on-road use, KTM鈥檚 EXC enduro range ranges from 250 cc to 450 cc, with the 300 EXC two-stroke and 350 EXC four-stroke slotting neatly in the middle. For the 300 EXC, its two-stroke engine uses twin injectors in the transfer ports, and 2-T lubricant is carried in the frame backbone, eliminating the need for pre-mix, and delivered via an electronically controlled oil pump. Suspension on the EXC range is from WP Suspension, with the fully-adjustable XPLOR 48 fork and XPLOR PDS monoshock. Optional for all EXC models is traction control, which can be controlled on-the-fly, and is standard fitment on the Six Days versions of the EXC.
On track I had the opportunity to drive the new GT3 RS back to back with the older generations. It has been just three years since the previous generation GT3 RS was introduced. Given this, I am excited about what the next three years will bring. For those customers looking for the ultimate track performance, there are a few options available; the Weissach package adds front and rear anti-roll bars together with additional styling elements. In addition, the standard composite brakes can be replaced with PCCB - the best ceramic composite brakes Porsche has to offer. A Clubsport package also adds a roll cage and 6-point seat belt is available at no extra charge.
