Lamborghini unveiled the open air version of the latest Few-off creation to fervent collectors and enthusiasts at Monterey Car Week in California. A performance driven model, this one-off open-top model is built on a carbon fiber monocoque frame with bodywork also in carbon fiber. The highly responsive V12 engine delivers 770 hp (566 kW) with maximum engine revs increased from 8.350 to 8.600 rpm. Accelerating from 0-100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds the Centenario Roadster鈥檚 top speed is more than 350 km/h. Braking distance is equally impressive: from 100-0 km/h in just 31 m. The Centenario Roadster adopts Lamborghini new rear wheel steering. This system increases turning agility at low speed while increasing stability at high speed. Lamborghini continues to honor the centenary of its dynamic founder, Ferruccio, with this special commemorative series. Designers were given the freedom to create an open design that embodies the progressive qualities of Lamborghini鈥檚 visionary founder and shines in an elegant environment. This next level Roadster embodies a new design direction for Lamborghini accentuated by clean surfaces as 鈥榝orm follows function鈥?- true to Lamborghini鈥檚 core design DNA. Centenario鈥檚 silhouette features low overhangs in the front and rear creating a clean, sensuous, mono-body shape. Known for experimenting with new cutting edge colors, designers at Centro Stile Lamborghini developed a special exterior silver color, called 鈥淎rgento Centenario鈥? fashioned exclusively for the Centenario Roadster. To achieve this signature matte finish, designers applied a new high-tech process dissolving the metal while diluting and diminishing the appearance of the metal grain giving it a silky and rich exterior finish. The Centenario Roadster on display features subtle and luxurious interiors in light brown "Terra di California", with Bianco Polar leather inlays. A more powerful Porsche 911 based on the GT3 will make its debut at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. Weissach is unleashing the 2019 911 GT3 RS in Switzerland next month. The GT3 RS packs a 4-liter six-cylinder engine that churns out 520 hp and 346 lb-ft of torque. The engine is only mated to a seven-speed PDK transmission鈥攜ep, that鈥檚 all folks. Porsche claims a 0 to 60 mph sprint in a blistering 3.0 seconds. That鈥檚 0.2 seconds quicker than the current 911 GT3 with PDK and 0.1 seconds quicker than the previous 911 GT3 RS. The new road-legal 911 GT3 RS has a top track speed of 193 mph and a fixed carbon-fiber rear wing to help keep it from flying away. To keep weight down, its larger front and rear fascia are made of polyurethane, the front trunk lid and fenders are carbon fiber, and the roof is made of magnesium. Porsche says its wing and rear diffuser produces more than twice as much down force as the regular 911 GT3 at 124 mph. Inside gets an Alcantara steering wheel and bucket seats with carbon fiber reinforced backrests. The rear and side windows are made from lightweight glass and other lightweight materials are employed to help save weight. Rear seats are tossed as well as sound installation for more savings.

Should Porsche bring back the 912? This is the random stuff I think of while daydreaming about my favorite automotive obsession. When you spend as much time in the garage as I do, it's hard not to wander in thought. I'd bet I'm not the first or only person to think about this. I believe the conditions and rationale for a slower and less expensive 911 are similar to those discussed during the days the first 912 was introduced. With the original 911 priced beyond some enthusiasts' pocketbooks, Porsche introduced a 911 with a four-cylinder 356 engine and, voila, the 912 was born. But we all know that history. What's my argument to bring the 912 back? The 911 of today has turned into a beast. It gets faster and faster with each new model. The fenders now flare out to outlandish portions compared to the first 911. And the price! Don't get me started. I'm not complaining here.
