Porsche 991 COV & Vacuum Lines Overview

Porsche 991 COV & Vacuum Lines Overview

Probably the 2 most prevalent discussions about the vacuum system in the 991 are centered on Change Over Valves (COVs), and periodic "failures" that 991 owners have reported (myself included!). Also keep in mind that the S cars, and cars with Porsche Sports Exhaust (PSE) rely on COVs to open-and-close the exhaust valving. ATL. I'll get more into the vacuum line routing later in this post. X-51 option have multiple tuning flaps apparently. The most common complaints of COV failures are the Exhaust Flaps and Heater Shut-Off Valve. In the above, the top part of the picture is the 3.8 standard exhaust, whereas the bottom-half of the picture is for the 991 with PSE option. MY 2012 991s there has NOT been any recall or service bulletins to replace suspect parts. 10048760 if you'd like to look it up. If you'd like to replace yourself, know that there isn't a WM specific to the procedure. However, there is WM 2400IN, which provides a lot of good pictures and location detail. I'll continue to compile other COV resources, and post updates from time-to-time. Contact me, or comment below, if you have questions or want to share any other experiences of your own!

The new 911 Turbo鈥檚 driving performance is duly tempered by its brake system, which comprises monobloc fixed-caliper disc brakes with six pistons at the front axle and four at the rear. The diameter of the internally ventilated and perforated brake discs at the front and rear wheels is 350 millimeters. An optimized ceramic brake system that Porsche offers is Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB). This high-tech system reduces with 17 kilograms the standard brake system and provides an excellent fading stability. The major bodywork change of the 911 Turbo is the modified front end with its distinctive, tautly drawn cooling air inlets. Combined with the standard oval bi-xenon headlights, it will define the new unmistakable image. From the rear perspective too, the Turbo will seem more powerful. This is due first and foremost to its tail end, 22 millimeters wider than that of the previous model, to which the redesigned wing spoiler element has been aligned. Secondly, the lateral air inlets behind the doors have been redrawn and now they offer a more efficient supply of cooling air to the charge-air intercoolers. The basic price for the 911 Turbo is 115,000 Euros. 122,000 (not including taxes).

As a sign of the current trends and times, Volkswagen鈥檚 newest flagship model is not the distinctive Arteon saloon. Instead, that honor now belongs to the all-new Touareg SUV. It faces tough competition, but the gadget-laden third-generation Touareg is using technology to its advantage. It won't be coming to the U.S. Tiguan and Atlas SUVs - yet we thought you'd still be interested to find out what the Touareg is up to overseas. This new model aspires to sell many more copies of itself than the old one, and so VW has brought its A-game to the SUV party. The new Touareg sits on the same platform as the Audi Q7 and Bentley Bentayga - so it鈥檚 in good company. Despite being larger than before, it actually weighs 234 pounds fewer thanks to a body that is now 48-percent aluminum. It鈥檚 quite a smart-looking thing, don鈥檛 you think? While its huge chrome grill that encompasses the headlights is domineering, the rest of this SUV is more subtle than some rivals.

Polite creases and soft curves create a grownup look that isn鈥檛 desperately trying to capture every passerby鈥檚 attention. Sure, it is a bit showier than its subdued predecessor, but it retains a sense of maturity. Some may argue that an SUV should be a style statement, but those who aren鈥檛 keen on vivid paint or huge chromed alloys will value the Touareg鈥檚 candor. The new cabin previews what is to come for the rest of the Volkswagen range in the form of the Innovation Cockpit. Formed by combining an optional 12-inch digital driver's display with a huge 15-inch touchscreen that鈥檚 angled toward the driver, it rivals the large screen found in Tesla EVs. Not only is there plenty of real estate to take advantage of, but it runs new software that allows you to customize your home screen with various widgets. Some functions are hidden within multiple menus, pretty frustrating at first, but once you arrange it to your liking you鈥檒l find the system responsive and full of useful features. Other tech includes massaging seats, four-zone climate control, and trendy mood lighting.
