Always Wanted A Ferrari FXX?

As any genuine octane breathing petrolhead will no doubt know, Italian exotic auto manufacturer Ferrari are known worldwide for designing, developing and producing some of the worlds very best road going supercars and hypercars. Doesn't seem like a fair deal does it? Starting on the outside, this gorgeous 2006 Ferrari FXX features a carbon fiber body with an eye catching red exterior paint finish which is contrasted by a single white racing stripe which runs down the center of the vehicle. Also present are "FXX" decals, traditional yellow "Scuderia Ferrari" side shields and a set of lightweight center locking, five-dual spoke alloy wheels finished in black with red ring surrounds. Inside, this spectacular 2006 Ferrari FXX features an interior which is heavily inspired by motorsport. Powering this beast is a howling 6.3 liter, naturally aspirated V12 engine which delivers a back breaking 789 hp (588 kW) of power and 686 Nm (506 lb-ft) of torque.

Mated to the 6.3 liter, naturally aspirated V12 engine is a six-speed 'F1' electrohydraulic manual transmission which sends all available power directly to the rear wheels. As the Ferrari FXX weighs in at 1,155 kg (2,546 lbs), this incredible machine can sprint from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in just 2.77 seconds and it is capable of achieving an incredible top speed of 345 km/h (214 mph). The Ferrari FXX is a perfect mixture of power and handling, therefore it was able to lap the famous Top Gear test track in 1:10.7 with former Ferrari F1 driver Michael Schumacher behind the wheel. At the time, the Ferrari FXX was roughly seven seconds faster around the famous Dunsfold Aerodrome than any vehicle which had lapped the circuit previously. As a Porsche owner, I'm often asked by friends and family why in the world I would spend so much on a car from my local Darien Porsche dealership. I try to explain to them my love of the vehicle and they just don't understand it. But if I'm being honest, it's okay that they don't understand because their opinion doesn't change my feelings. Unless you love Porsche, you'll never understand it, and until you own a Porsche you can't judge us for spending the money because you don't know what it feels like to get behind that wheel. 80,000 for a Darien Porsche 911, then I can't imagine what they will say when they hear what people are spending on the latest vehicle from the brand, the Porsche 918 Spyder. At the 2010 Geneva Auto Show, Porsche surprised everyone by revealing the all-new Porsche 918 Spyder plug-in hybrid. Production will begin on September 18, 2013 (09/18/13) and will be limited to only 918 models.

Orders are being taken now at the local Darien Porsche dealership, but I think it's safe to say I won't be trying to buy this one! The Porsche 918 Spyder will be powered by a 3.4-liter V8 engine. The engine will produce 500 horsepower and will be supplemented by three electric motors which deliver an additional 218 horsepower. The Spyder's transmission will be a 7-speed gearbox coupled to Porsche's own double clutch system delivering power to the rear axle. The hybrid will accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.1 seconds and will reach a top speed of 199 miles per hour. The vehicle even recorded a Nurburgring lap time of 7 minutes and 30 seconds, beating the legendary Carrera GT by two seconds! Porsche recently announced that 918 buyers will get additional perks. As an added bonus, buyers are allowed to purchase the 911 Turbo S "Edition 918 Spyder." Available only to buyers of the 918, it too will be limited to no more than 918 units. The special edition will be available as a coupe or convertible and boasts "acid green" accents on the badging, mirrors, seats, dash, and instrumentation, as well as matching brake calipers. Other special accents include a plaque on the glove compartment which bears the production number of your 918 Spyder, a full leather interior, and carbon-fiber elements. I'm very excited about the upcoming Porsche 918 Spyder as well as the Porsche 911 S "Edition 918 Spyder" and will keep you up to date on all the details as they continue to emerge. As for my family and friends, I know they don't understand my love and that's alright with me. When I get behind the wheel of my Darien Porsche 911 and feel the thrill of the ride, none of that matters!
