The redesigned 2019 Porsche Cayenne marks the debut of a new generation. This Cayenne looks more sleek and modern than the outgoing model, and it features plenty of quality materials. Still, it isn't quite as functional or inviting as some rivals' interiors. Both rows of seats are comfortable and roomy, and there are plenty of tech features. The infotainment system is relatively user-friendly, though sometimes it can be distracting to operate. Most class rivals offer more cargo space than the Cayenne. The Cayenne seats five and comes standard with leather upholstery and eight-way power-adjustable front seats. Heated front seats, ventilated front seats, 14-way power-adjustable front seats, 18-way power-adjustable front sport seats, massaging front seats, heated rear seats, ventilated rear seats, and a heated steering wheel are available. There are two full sets of LATCH car-seat connectors. While some class rivals have three rows of seats, the Cayenne has just two.
On the bright side, both rows are comfortable and supportive, with enough space for adult passengers. Thanks to the large rear doors, it's easy to get in and out of the rear seats. Available features include a panoramic sunroof, quad-zone automatic climate control, a 14-speaker Bose stereo, a 21-speaker Burmester stereo, and a rear-seat entertainment system. Available driver assistance features include a head-up display, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, night vision assist, and a surround-view camera. The infotainment system's large touch screen is easy to see, and you can customize the icons to prioritize those you use most frequently. The menus are easy to navigate, though some functions are buried in multiple layers of menus. The screen is responsive and even reacts to gestures, though it is prone to attracting finger smudges and requires you to take your eyes off the road to adjust settings. The capacitive-touch panel isn't our favorite and quickly attracts fingerprint smudges; we prefer the predictable nature of real buttons, but the panel does move slightly when pressed, and it vibrates a bit to let you know you've done something. The large touchscreen works without much hassle once you learn the menu structure. The showstopper here is a 12.3-inch widescreen display that gives drivers access to all of the features crammed into the Cayenne. A configurable home screen gives quick access to the most frequently used features and a simple clear interface lets you find the rest without too much trouble. Proximity sensors can tell when a hand is approaching, allowing extra on-screen menus to appear, giving maximum accessibility to features when needed but leaving a clean display otherwise. The Cayenne provides 27.1 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats up and 60.3 cubic feet with them folded. Those numbers drop slightly in Cayenne Turbo models (to 26.3 and 59.3 cubic feet). This Porsche doesn't have the smallest cargo hold in the class, but most other luxury midsize SUVs have higher capacities. A power liftgate comes standard.
The Volkswagen Touareg overall is a comfortable fun to drive vehicle. I still remember the first time I drove it and took a sweeping corner at 30 mph. The handling was so great, there was no push into the corner, no leaning. I was amazed. The car has always been a smooth driver and the seating is very comfortable. This vehicle also tells you everything, low washer fluid, air pressure readings for each tire, how many miles left on your gas tank, fuel usage. I've owned it for more than 4 years and still don't know everything it can do. The Volkswagen Touareg overall is a comfortable fun to drive vehicle.
