Very Little Has Been Revealed

Very Little Has Been Revealed

Alpha-N recently released details of their most ambitious project yet; the Alpha One Supercar. It鈥檚 a project of roughly the same proportion as the RUF CTR3 and the 9ff GT9. It takes a Porsche Cayman as it鈥檚 base and then adds bespoke bodywork, redesigned handling characteristics and a whole heap of performance! Very little has been revealed. Aside from the photos we have a few specs, Alpha-N promises between 300hp and 800hp which probably means that multiple engine specifications are possible. It will weigh between 1,080kg and 1,280kg which will probably vary with the choice of powerplant. It will feature carbon fiber bodywork and the chassis from a Porsche Cayman. As you can see from the photos, the car will feature a whole new body. The design mimics the Porsche 918 Spyder from a lot of different angles. It retains the Cayman鈥檚 unique roof profile and the rear-mounted engine. For now, that鈥檚 all we can tell you. However, you can take a look at Alpha-N鈥檚 other projects, including the BMW E92 M3 and the BMW 1M Coupe, and you can decide for yourself if the new supercar will be successful!

The monochromatic theme continues to the interior where black is the only available color, with aluminum and stainless steel used as accents. The brushed stainless steel door-entry guards feature Black Edition lettering, and the standard SportDesign steering wheel features twin aluminum-look spokes with a rim of smooth-finish black leather. Like the other Black Editions, the Cayman S Black Edition combines Porsche's popular option packages to deliver additional value to customers. The black-painted exterior and interior touches are part of the Design package available on other Cayman models. The Convenience package, also standard, includes Bi-Xenon headlights with dynamic cornering function, auto-dimming interior and exterior mirrors, rain sensor and automatic climate control. The Infotainment package adds a touch-screen Porsche Communication Management system with navigation, BOSE surround-sound system and XM Satellite Radio with XM NavTraffic. The Black Edition's chassis builds on the foundation of the Cayman S, which already features exceptional balance and handling. 67,500 which gives buyers added value on several levels considering the extra functional and visual upgrades and the enhanced power output. When motivational thinking and raw power are mixed together, you get the 2008 Porsche Cayenne S. The Cayenne S 2008 is an advanced version of the 2006 as there is no 2007 version. The Porsche Cayenne S is symbolic to the success of this small company from Germany as it glorifies the strength and the reliability of this 4-wheel-drive sport-utility vehicle. There was a time when people wondered if the Porsche Cayenne was the kind of SUV they wanted but things and minds have changed since then. The Porsche Cayenne S is the kind of SUV, which will tempt you with its controls, smooth driving capabilities and sturdiness. Today the Porsche Cayenne S is selling well with more than 20,000 units being manufactured every year. According to Porsche, the 2008 Cayenne S is a high-performance second generation SUV. So what is the X-factor for the SUV? The smart thing that Porsche engineers have done is that they have developed a completely new engine for the SUV.

The engine now has an enlarged displacement and as compared to the past models, this one has a direct fuel injection. Due to the charge cooling effect initiated by the direct fuel injection system, it provides a high compression ratio. The result is improved horsepower as well as torque. It has a strong V6 engine that some believe is too weak for the Porsche Cayenne S, although the company feels that this is just an entry-level offering. The current V6 engine delivers 290 horsepower while the torque at 283 pound-feet gives 43 hp and 54 lb-ft. The Porsche Cayenne S has good acceleration and can take you from 0-60-mph in about 9.5 seconds. There are two options where transmission is concerned. You can get the Cayenne S with a Tiptronic automatic transmission or the regular six-speed manual transmission. There are two different modes in the Tiptronic automatic transmission system. The two modes are the Normal Mode and the Sport mode. The Porsche Cayenne S has two different engine models. You can go for the V6 or the V8. The V6 has 17-inch wheels while the V8 has 18-inch wheels. Of course you can always customize the wheels to include a 19, 20 or 21-inch wheels. The interiors and the body of the Cayenne S have no significant change from the 2006 model. It has the same styling and same controls. One of the integrated systems in the SUV is the Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC), which comes with a new active stabilizer bar system. This will help the car to maneuver through any condition. The only addition includes a power-operated tailgate system and a tire-pressure monitoring system.

The current 997 Porsche 911 is still being updated for its mid-cycle refresh, with the standard Carrera, Carrera 4, Targa, and more recently the GT3 all receiving the update. Still in the works are the new Turbo and the GT2 models, though they too are drawing near to their expected unveiling. Having nearly completed development work on these vehicles, Porsche engineers are already hard at work testing prototypes of the next-generation 998 model. We have previously seen test vehicles for the standard 998 Coupe and Cabrio models, as well as the high-performance Turbo, and now we have the first images of what appears to be the 911 Targa model caught in the snow. Clear differences between the 998 and the current 997 model are a pair of more upright headlights, side mirrors positioned at the side of the doors and not at the window, and a slightly longer body. This particular test vehicle has some visible lines around the rear window, suggesting that it is removable. It is not clear yet if Porsche will only have AWD versions of the Targa like the current model, but tougher fuel economy and emissions regulations may see the introduction of a lighter RWD version. The 998 version of Porsche鈥檚 iconic supercar isn鈥檛 expected to arrive in showrooms until late 2011, but we expect to see much more of the car from spy photographers as it develops.
