The Turbulence and Energy Systems Laboratory (TESLa) at the University of Colorado, Boulder studies turbulence, combustion, renewable energy systems, and geophysical flows. At TESLa we specialize in numerical simulations of turbulent flows found in both engineering and nature, with a focus on modeling and understanding flow physics. We perform both fundamental and applied studies of turbulent combustion and reacting flows, with a focus on turbulence-flame interactions and propulsion systems. We study various aspects of wind and ocean renewable energy systems through the use of physically-realistic numerical simulations. Small-scale processes in the ocean are examined to better understand climate and weather modeling, as well as biogeochemical processes in the earth system. The Turbulence and Energy Systems Laboratory (TESLa) is located at the University of Colorado, Boulder and is led by Professor Peter Hamlington in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The TESLa team currently consists of a number of student research assistants and collaborators within Boulder and beyond. At TESLa we use numerical simulations to study turbulent flows found in a variety of different engineering and natural applications. Click on the thumbnails above for more information on specific projects, or for a general overview of the work we do see our projects page. TESLa is located in the Mechanical Engineering wing of the Engineering Center at the University of Colorado, Boulder.

The goal for this project was to recreate a 1972 ST "prototype" that Longballa had seen in photographs his Uncle had. The build would be all steel except for an alluminium engine lid and license plate panel. The original deco holes in the front and rear bumpers would be left unfilled, and the front horn / intake areas would be painted Black and left bare as on the car factory photos. There would be minor differences such as the use of wider wheels, front and rear Fuchs size changes, and the car was to be painted in Signal Yellow rather than Light Ivory. Autobahn Interiors was entrusted with the interior, and handles the dashboard, light weight carpeting, rubbber floor mats, trim, headliner and the door panels. We also upholstered high-bolster, ST style race buckets from Vintage Seats. A correct driver's footrest, vintage-style roll bar, period belt anchors and reproduction Repa seat belts laid across German Corduroy and Black Vinyl provide just the right retro look!

Porsche Design鈥檚 1919 Globetimer UTC makes it very easy for frequent travelers not to lose a moment of precious time. The local time can be conveniently set with the aid of the ergonomically shaped, optimally positioned pusher. Each press of this button causes the short, local-time hour hand to advance clockwise one position. 鈥?button advances the second time zone by an interval of one hour. When flying west, pressing the 鈥?鈥?button causes the UTC hands to move in the opposite direction. All the while, the UTC hands automatically move, remaining in synchrony. To assure this occurs at midnight and not at noon, the time needs to be set correctly just once. A circular window on the left-hand side of the dial facilitates this task: a white dot appears here during the daytime hours, but the aperture remains black at night. Porsche Design has also taken into account the reference time, for which a second and clearly distinguishable hour hand with a distinctive luminous tip is responsible. This hand turns once every twenty-four hours, showing at a glance whether it is reasonable to phone home, or if it is already too late (or too early) to wake one鈥檚 family. Nothing has been left to chance with the operation of the 1919 Globetimer UTC. To intuitively display the time from any viewing angle, the dial鈥檚 radius has been made as large as possible, while the titanium case was designed to be uncommonly slim. Well-balanced styling imbues this watch with a unique lightness, further enhanced by the handsomely shaped wristband. Color contrasts, distinctive hands, indices and numerals combine with the generous use of nonradioactive Super-LumiNova luminous material to minimize the chance of misreading, even in conditions characterized by poor visibility. In addition, a sevenfold antireflective coating and an extra hard-coated treatment protect the sapphire crystal.

Luxury automakers seem increasingly interested in high tech equipment after Aston Martin is the turn of Lamborghini to offer mobile devices. Are you are exhilarated to woo around with Lamborghini mobile in Abu Dhabi? Needless to say, these smart phones and tablets are intended for very wealthy clients. With a starting price to 2100 Euros for a Smartphone and a tablet for 1800 Euros, not sure in fact that these facilities are found in every home. The Lamborghini TL700 Smartphone has called a hull luxurious gold finish and crocodile; it features a sapphire crystal scratch resistant touch screen of 3.7 inches with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. The mobile also features a 5 megapixel camera with 4 GB of internet memory and a processor specification is unknown. The mobile runs on android 2.3 Gingerbread, the technical characteristics that do not really make you dream. The tablet is it known as the Lamborghini L2800; it has a scratch resistant screen also 9.7 inches and a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels.

Inside we find a Qualcomm processor clocked at 1.2 GHz and supported by 512 MB of RAM, of storage it is still 4 GB which will be expandable by SD card. The tablet has it a carbon finish. Again it's Android 2.3 that drives the device. Lamborghini announced that these products are primarily destined for the Russian market, but saw their performance should not be too much regret. The App Stores for Android, iPhone and Windows Phone offer in their catalogs a multitude of free high quality racing games, but what to choose? Lamborghini mobile in Abu Dhabi ruled and offers six free apps. To start the week, what better way to remember that the crisis is finally behind us, and that the days full of necessarily high-tech gifts we tend arms? We fell in that sunny day on the new Smartphone called Lamborghini TL700. Running Android 2.3 (why?), The TL700 features a 3.7 inch WVGA screen, Qualcomm processor (model unknown), a 5 megapixel rear camera and a front camera of 2 megapixels probably VGA. 4GB internal memory is also available and the battery is announced at 1400 mAh. Thus we find an almost pure KitKat, which the mark affixes some icons of transformations of his own - the design "light painting" plots is questionable - and graphic wallpapers dedicated to the iconic Lamborghini bull. But if the technical characteristics worthy of the saga "back to the future" have not been right in your PEL, maybe the frame of solid gold TL700 and its back cover in crocodile skin will seal the deal. So we are sure you wouldn't want to miss out the Lamborghini mobile in Abu Dhabi, right?
