P0301 Worn out spark plugs, ignition wires, coil(s), distributor cap and rotor (when applicable), Incorrect ignition timing, Vacuum leak(s), Low or weak fuel pressure, Improperly functioning EGR system, Defective Mass Air Flow Sensor, Defective Crankshaft and/or Camshaft Sensor, Defective Throttle Position Sensor, Mechanical engine problems (i.e.—low compression, leaking head gasket(s), or valve problems)

-P0301 specifically refers to a misfire detected in cylinder 1. The causes for a misfire in cylinder 1 are the same as the causes for a general misfire (P0300), but with a focus on issues specific to that particular cylinder. Some possible causes include:

Worn out spark plugs for cylinder 1
Faulty ignition wires for cylinder 1
Defective coil(s) for cylinder 1
Incorrect ignition timing for cylinder 1
Vacuum leak(s) affecting cylinder 1
Low or weak fuel pressure affecting cylinder 1
Improperly functioning EGR system affecting cylinder 1
Defective Mass Air Flow Sensor affecting cylinder 1
Defective Crankshaft and/or Camshaft Sensor affecting cylinder 1
Defective Throttle Position Sensor affecting cylinder 1
Mechanical engine problems specific to cylinder 1, such as low compression, a leaking head gasket, or valve problems.--------------------------
