INFORMATION:
Following installation, there is one connection available in the center console storage bin to which any audio source can be connected via the AUX interface (standard connection socket for 3.5-mm jack plugs). Playback is possible using the CD AUX button. The volume is adjusted on CDR 30. All other functions must be controlled via the audio source.
For more information on operation and the various functions available, refer to the "CDR" operating instructions.
The standard plug socket in the center console storage bin is no longer used when the universal audio interface is installed.

Work Procedure: 1. 1.5 Remove insert for locking mechanism -> Figure 4 -2-. 1. 5. 1 Turn over center console. 1. 5. 2 Remove screw -> Figure 4 -1-. 1. 5. 3 Press in locking lugs -> Figure 4 -arrows A- and remove insert for locking mechanism.
2. Install wiring harness (retrofit kit) in center console.
INFORMATION:  The standard plug socket in the center console storage compartment is no longer used.
2.1 Secure connector from the plug socket on the standard wiring harness with tie-wraps -> Figure 5 -arrow-. 2.2 Wind wrapping tape around the wiring harness (retrofit kit). 2.3 Route wiring harness (retrofit kit).
2. 3. 1 Secure wiring harness (retrofit kit) -> Figure 6 -1- with a retaining clip -> Figure 6 -2- so that it is centered on the handbrake lever.

2. 3. 2 Secure wiring harness (retrofit kit) to the guide tube for the hand brake cable -> Figure 7 -1- using tie-wraps -> Figure 7 -arrow-.
2. 3. 3 Secure wiring harness (retrofit kit) to the gearshift bracket -> Figure 8 -1- with a securing clip.
2. 3. 4 Route wiring harness (retrofit kit) -> Figure 9 -1- forward towards the car radio installation slot and secure it to the standard wiring harness with tie-wraps.

2. 3. 5 Insert connector module D (coding: green) -> Figure 10 -1- into the central connector for the car radio -> Figure 10 -2-.
3. Fit retaining clips on insert for locking mechanism.
3.1 Position insert for locking mechanism -> Figure 11 -A- and console -> Figure 11 -B- so that they are flush. 3.2 Mark the position of the retaining clips on the insert for the locking mechanism -> Figure 11 -arrows-. To do this, slide one -> Figure 11 -C- or both retaining clips on the insert for the locking mechanism and console as required.
3.3 Using a file or similar tool, carefully make a groove the same width as the retaining clip between the markings until the retaining clip -> Figure 12 -1- and edge -> Figure 12 -2- form a line -> Figure 12 -arrow-. 3.4 Fit retaining clips on insert for locking mechanism.

3.5 Press insert for locking mechanism down -> Figure 13 -arrow- until it engages in the center console. Secure insert for locking mechanism with the screw -> Figure 13 -A-.
4. Fit center console by guiding the wiring harness through the bore in the center console. -> Workshop Manual '681719 Removing and installing centre console'.
4.1 Tighten screws -> Figure 14 -A-.
INFORMATION:  Continue to use the standard center console floor.
4.2 Fit center console floor and tighten the screw -> Figure 15 -A- on the center console floor.

5. Install console.
5.1 Plug 3-pin connector into the console  -> Figure 16 -arrow-.
5.2 Place wiring harness (retrofit kit) -> Figure 17 -1- in the locking lugs (cable guide) -> Figure 17 -arrows- on the console -> Figure 17 -2-.
CAUTION: Incorrect installation of console - Risk of surface damage (Standard, Leather or Carbon Look) - Carefully pull the center console apart in the area indicated by arrows (Figure 14) with the help of a second person.
5.3 Insert console -> Figure 18 -1- into the center console. The bars -> Figure 18 -2- on the console must engage in the retaining clips.

5.4 Secure the console with three new tapping screws (steel, 4.2 x 25) -> Figure 19 -1-. 5.5 Place rubber insert in center console storage bin.
6. Concluding work 6.1 Install the remaining parts of the center console. -> Workshop Manual '681719 Removing and installing centre console' 6.2 Install CDR 30 car radio.
NOTE: Voltage drop - Risk of irreparable damage to control unit - Risk of damage to control unit - Fault entries in the control unit - Coding in the control unit is aborted - Malfunctions in control unit, even during programming - Switch off the ignition and remove the ignition key before disconnecting the control unit. - Ensure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming. - Connect a battery charger with a current rating of at least Nominal value 40 A to the vehicle battery.
6.3 Read out the fault memory of all systems, correct any existing faults, and erase the fault memory. 6.4 Activate the universal audio interface in the car radio. 6. 4. 1 Switch on car radio. 6. 4. 2 Press CD AUX button twice. 6. 4. 3 Switch off car radio.
6.5 Disconnect battery charger. -> Workshop Manual '2X00IN03 Battery trickle charging'.
