World's first introduction to the BMW X5's new iteration was back in year 2007, short after that, it became so hot favourite among its owners. It was more powerful, refined, luxurious and slightly bigger car than the one it replaced. Back in year 2000 - when the original X5 was launched - for BMW, it was the start of a new era. The launch of Mercedes ML two years prior to X5's, proved company's claims of inventing the segment, a bit untruthful. On the roads, the ML was not as good as the BMW, so X5 became the class leader. Now-a-days, most of the cars sold in UK are powered by the diesel engines. The new X5 is just 15kg heavier than the previous model. The other changes made to this model were sculpted bonnet and larger head lamps. The pleasant surprise in X5 was that it became 287kg lighter than its rival, the Audi Q7. It was all made possible by using thermoplastic for the front wings and, aluminium for the instrument panel, suspension arms and the bonnet. Increase in length of X5 was carried out to provide some extra space for the third row seating.
