The Mercedes S-Class has been a luxury benchmark for good reason, and the 2018 update only improves its overall look and performance. With more features than many high-end hotels, it can be a dream car for those who prefer their saloons stylish and supremely comfortable. It does, however, face stiff competition from the likes of the Audi A8 and BMW 7 Series. The Audi's central rear seat is fairly compared to the BMW's in terms of should space headroom. Of all, the thing in common in all three is the boot space. With the Audi in the lead with commodious 520-litre load bay, the Mercedes and BMW can load the 510-litre and 515-litre respectively. If you prefer to be at the wheels, you will find the new 7 Series pretty convenient and cushioned than its predecessor. It does roll about slightly through tight corners but it's by no means awkward.
In 740d spec it's surprisingly quick, too. The S-Class delivers effortless progress in a manner few rivals can match, thanks to its well tuned suspension and silky smooth nine-speed automatic gearbox. Audi A8, on the other hand handles with the poise and control of a much smaller car, says an expert of Audi Greensboro. All models come with four-wheel drive as standard and offer a brilliant blend of punchy performance and relaxed cruising ability. The 7 Series comes with numerous petrol engines, from an efficient six-cylinder 3.0-litre unit to a twin-turbocharged V12 that can dash it from 0-62mph in just 3.7 seconds in M760Li xDrive guise. A hybrid model, powered by a compact 2.0-litre engine and a 100hp electric motor is available. The S-Class has two diesel and three petrol units, including a pair of efficient hybrids. The best all-rounder is the 3.0 diesel V6, however. Not only can it deliver more than 50 mpg but it has more than enough power to waft you along with almost no fuss. AMG S63 and AMG S65 models - delivering 585hp and 630 hp respectively - are also available if you're looking for both limousine luxury and supercar performance. The A8 is powered by a selection of smooth diesel engines, including a 4.2 liter V8 and a 3.0 liter V6. Some buyer may be lured by the big V8 but, for a better blend of performance and economy, the 42.8 mpg capable V6 is a better choice. The Audi A8 looks gorgeous, despite its age. It drivers more smoothly than its two younger rivals and feels firm but neither the most refined on the road nor the most high-tech inside. The BMW on the other hand boasts more futuristic gadgets than almost any other car on the market. The S-Class, on the other hand, looks stylish, elegant and decent.
This morning I had the annoying cold 20 degree start coolant warning with the needle shooting to 250 degrees again. It went off after about 60 seconds but this is concerning me. I see no leaks in my driveway at all. Tomorrow I am getting the plugs changed, brake fluid flushed and oil changed and will hopefully have the mechanic take a look at the cooling system for me. My tank (2011 V6) has markings on the side of the tank toward the front of the vehicle. You have to crane your neck a bit but they're there. After looking at the other pictures it looks like the plastic "shroud" design - surrounding the coolant tank - has changed in more recent years. Must be here right? BTW - have had the beauty plastic surround off whilst changing plugs - can't recall seeing a marker on the tank anywhere. I'm guessing if it's up to the seam in the tank it's OK. This is a 2011 Cayenne. You can barely see the line below the seam. Pointing to the general area for reference. Hope this helps someone! Last edited by boaterboat; 06-05-2019 at 11:33 AM. Doesn't the manual say something like the warning light comes on at "X" liters low? Had my covers off today (replacing air-filters) - and sure enough - the line is BELOW the seam in the tank. If you're filled to the seam you're fine. With the covers on the line cannot be seen.
