Porsche Child Restraint System - Installation

Vehicle Type:

Boxster

Model Year:

As of 1997 (V)

Concern:

Retrofitting passenger side airbag deactivation device (crossbar with belt lock) to complete the Porsche Child Restraint system.

Information:

Whenever a Porsche Child Seat is installed in the passenger seat, the passenger side airbag (and on 98 and later vehicles, the passenger side door

airbag) MUST be deactivated to prevent possible injury to a child in a child seat during a collision. A Porsche passenger airbag deactivation device

(crossbar with belt lock) specially designed for the Porsche Child Seat must be installed in the vehicle, and must be enabled with the Porsche

System Tester 2 (PST2) before using the Porsche Child Seat.

After the deactivation device (crossbar with belt lock) has been installed and enabled, the passenger side airbags (including airbag passenger door)

are deactivated by inserting the belt tongue from the child seat into the belt lock (receptacle) on the cross-bar. Deactivation is acknowledged by the

airbag light flashing for 10 seconds (or 60 seconds on cars produced after March 31,1999) when the vehicle is first started or ignition is turned on.
