The GTS variants have the Carrera S engine with the Powerkit upgrade (450 hp and 405 lb-ft of torque). The 911 Turbo has a turbocharged 3.8-liter flat-six good for 540 hp and 486 lb-ft of torque. It comes only with the PDK automatic and all-wheel drive. The Turbo S is uprated to 580 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. It also gets active stabilizer bars (PDCC), carbon-ceramic brake rotors, 14-way power front seats with adjustable side bolsters, and carbon-fiber interior trim. Finally, the track models. The Carrera T is based on the standard Carrera and uses the same 370-hp engine, but it features lightweight door panels with nylon door pulls, a mechanical limited-slip differential, and shorter final drive ratio for better acceleration. The GT3 is a lightweight, track-focused performance model. It has a 4.0-liter non-turbocharged flat-six that produces 500 hp and 339 lb-ft of torque. PDK is standard and a six-speed manual is optional. It also gets its own special suspension tuning, rear-wheel steering, the carbon-ceramic brakes, lightweight body components (including a carbon-fiber fixed rear wing), a rear underbody diffuser and special styling elements. For the GT3 RS, Porsche takes a GT3 and sharpens it further with more power (520 hp, 346 lb-ft of torque), aerodynamic enhancements, and more trick lightweight parts, such as a magnesium roof and carbon-fiber trunklid and fenders. Many of the higher-end items, especially those included on the Turbo, are available as options on lesser trims. As with any Porsche, you can also customize the 911 to your heart's (and hopefully wallet's) content, with numerous paint colors, upholstery types and trim selections. You can also specify everything from colorful Porsche crests on the seats to leather trim on the climate vent slats.

They all win, every time. We love them wherever they are; on flatbeds, on posters, on race tracks, in ditches. But this year produced a distinct 鈥榁eyron moment鈥? something we haven鈥檛 seen since the first Veyron moment in 2005, which is when the Veyron was launched. The Porsche 918 Spyder. It鈥檚 stupendous, a huge leap in supercar, nay, hypercar evolution and the first production car to own the 鈥橰ing in less than seven minutes. It鈥檚 also stunning in live carbon fibre. We鈥檝e driven the prototype, had passenger rides, and tested the production model twice, so that gives us plenty of legitimacy to vote this as the winner. During the most recent drive of the 918 in Spain I said, 鈥淭he Ricardo Tormo circuit sits in a natural bowl, with the pits framing the main straight and a stadium grandstand enveloping the rest of the track. From the Porsche garage I can catch the liquid silver 918 Spyder lapping at the far end. It looks organic at speed, like a globule of mercury hurtling around inside a spoon.

It really is a beautiful car, almost justifying its million-dollar price tag with design alone. But thankfully you get much more for your million dollars: a carbon chassis, cut slicks, ceramic brakes, serious aero package, a race-derived naturally aspirated V8 engine mid-mounted and making 132 horsepower per litre. Then there are the electric motors elevating peak power to almost 900 horses. It鈥檚 insane, yet also manageable even on a track with the mid-engined chassis shimmying and teasing precisely like a supercar should. Top speed is 345kph and 0-100kph comes up in 2.6 seconds. Around town and in traffic it鈥檚 no more intimidating than a Boxster. And it鈥檚 got zero-emissions motoring capability, and it鈥檚 a hybrid. But definitely not for environmental reasons, which is straight out of the 918 project leader鈥檚 mouth. The 918 Spyder makes, say, a Lamborghini Aventador Roadster feel like a shopping trolley. Which it isn鈥檛; it鈥檚 excellent, and in last place. Second spot goes to the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black, which we utterly adore since it鈥檚 significantly more focused and quicker and more raw than the base SLS, yet easier to drive hard. It鈥檚 brilliant and it will be a mega future classic.

A lowered Roadster half done is really not much fun. Reason the stabiliser is twisted fully all the time and therefore allows Zero compliance. HugE, HUGE difference. D.I.Y Installation took me a little while as I also took the opportunity to lower the suspension another 10mm at the reat and about 7 at the front. It's low. But now I have a full range of stabiliser bar movement and the ride is much more comfortable. Around town it doesn't bump around at the rear anymore. I still need to adjust my ohlins for damping, but I need a few nice corners to sort those out. I was doing the install at my friends place. He just got his FD back from Knight Sports. The single Knight Sports Turbo setup is making 431 bhp @ the wheels @ 1.1 bar. Miguel also installed some LED rear lights today. While I was there I noticed an old yellow faded GT wing lying around. I couldn't resist sticking it on the back of the car. I only had my phone camera so the pics are crap, but you get the idea. This one was just simply way way way way too big for the roadster. I would never fit one anyway, but I had to check it out. Onto more interesting stuff. It was only THE twin turbo veilside Z from Fast and Furious III - Tokyo Drift. This one's sold to a lucky customer. And is the last but 1 RX8 of 18 ff cars my friend aquired after the shooting. This paint scheme got me thinking more about graphics. So I wanted to try something. 1.00 I added some TEMPORARY stripes to the roadster. I took them off already but I may re-add them on sunday when I go cruising with the R16 guys. I also tried some headlight eyebrows, but i wasn't happy with the silver tape I had.
